McElroy was never highly touted. Heck, the last Bama QB to start and win an NFL game was Jeff Rutledge in 1987. Bama QBs are known to be game managers. They don't have big arms and haven't for a long time. AJ McCarron is a bit better than McElroy but he'll get drafted too high just bc he's a 'winner'.

edit. You have to go back to Stabler to come up with a bona fide passing QB for the Tide. That was almost 50 yrs ago.

I think McElroy will be a good player for a team if he gets a chance and a decent coach.

That as a typo and I corrected it. I should proof read better before posting. I think McElroy, though not elite, could be a solid quarterback if with the right system.

It will be interesting what comes out in the battle between Sanchez and Smith.

BB likes TT. Cutting TT would be akin to handling him no differently than the Jets did. That would reflect on BB. It would also embarrass TT. BB won't do that. (He'd rather put Harrison on IR.)

IF BB let's TT go, BB will make sure TT has an NFL job lined up. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it. I think I'm right, too.
LOL you are seriously deluded if you think BB won't cut Tebow because it might 'embarass' him. BB is all about winning. He has cut many veterans in the past who meant a LOT more to the team than Tim Tebow.

As for TT lining up a 'next' NFL job, the last time I checked, that's his agent's job.

Soooo what you're saying is that Tim Tebow has incriminating pictures of BB that he doesn't want to get out? That would be the first thing you've said that makes sense in this thread...

No, they asked him to take a pay cut LONG before then. The week before the season started was Milloy's last opportunity to agree or be cut.

Timmy is here to learn to play QB. The key word is "learn". He knows how to take a snap and freelance. He's never really been taught how to play the position. He isn't able to learn the position on his own like Tom Brady. He has to be taught. Furthermore, McDaniels was canned before he was actually able to teach Tebow. I think McDaniels wants to prove the Broncos wrong and I think Tebow wants to prove everyone wrong. But Tebow needs someone to show him the way. He isn't analytical enough to do it on his own. He may not even be talented enough to play QB. One thing is certain; both Tebow and McDaniels want to give it their all. This is the ONLY plan for Tebow.

Tebow makes the roster for two reasons. To embarrass the jets twice this season.

The first post makes me laugh bc it underestimates BB's growth in sensitivity and maturity over the last 15 yrs. BB isn't the same guy who cut a popular QB in Cleveland. Want proof? Go watch his episodes of "A Football Life" and replay 100 times the scene where he's in the offices and hall of the Giants' stadium. The one where he tears up and chokes on his own words. That is not the same man who coached in Cleveland.

BB was in full reflective mode of his career in those scenes; he showed his human side as we've never seen it. And he demonstrated his deep love for the game and all the struggles it entails. He showed sensitivity.

I remember thinking when BB & Linda took Tebow to the North End (Italian District) for dinner that BB must truly see something special in Tim Tebow as a person to bring Linda along. This wasn't just a meet and greet interview. BB has never done this with a prospect that we've heard. This was different. This was special. This was a social gathering of friends with a common bond, the love & respect of the game. Tebow's moral and religious persona was his gateway to BB's inner sanctum & they got BB's attention more than his football skills as a QB.

Don't brush me off as a Tebow fanatic, either. I am not a fan of Tebow, the NFL QB. However, that BB's feelings for Tebow transcend football, that those feelings are personal is very evident.

As MightyMitts said above, "Timmy is here to learn to play QB". But, we all thnk Tebow has no real future as a QB for the Pats. So ask yourself, why is Tebow here to learn to play QB? Why would BB voluntarily take on the uphill struggle of coaching Tebow? For the hell of it?

Why is it such a huge leap to think BB likes Tebow on a personal level and is fed up with the way Tebow was dismissed by Elway and mocked by his Jets experience? And what makes you think BB, knowing his own place in NFL history, with his reputation on the line, with his personal feelings for Tebow, with his new found sensitivities, will treat Tebow the same way as Elway and Rex did? When BB writes his book I expect a chapter on Tebow and it will be a revealing chapter worth reading.

Other than bringing Linda, what are all these obvious signs of deep, personal feelings on Bill's side? The contract, Linda and even your ideas posted above aren't enough.

And, more importantly, why would releasing Tebow after giving him a legitimate chance to earn a roster spot even remotely be treating him like Elway and Rex did?

I've said my piece and I believe it. I don't need proof beyond a reasonable doubt like you do. This is a civil thing, not criminal. But I'll ask you a question. Why do you think Belichick signed him?

I can understand having faith in your ability to read between the lines (Bill's feelings about Tim), but the "embarrass" and "treat like Rex" stuff really needs to be qualified.

I think Bill signed Tim because he is a good locker room guy, a fine prep-mobile QB for the defense, an excellent athlete who could develop some positional flexibility and maybe, just maybe could develop as a QB given proper guidance.

Basically a wildcard, something they've done in the past several times.

I tend to agree with you, chevss. BB definitely has high regards for TT, and his direct refutation to the press of the story that he hated TT is one example of BB's respect. We all know how much BB hates the media, and for him to solicit such an uncharacteristically verbose denunciation of that story without being forced to do so by the NFL is hard evidence to me that it was not only important to him that TT knew the truth, but that everyone knew the truth. A private phone call to TT wasn't enough; the public announcement irked him, and he felt compelled to publicly refute it.

That BB didn't just fire one of his standard responses is very telling to me.

Belichick (1/24/15) I would not say Im the Mona Lisa Vito of the football world as she was in the car expertise area.
