Your last sentence says it all. BB wouldn't have signed TT if he didn't have something in mind for him. Which is also why his contract is structured the way it is for the 2nd year...no play, no pay. That tells me TT knows what BB is thinking but the 2 have come to an understanding that this 1st yr TT will be primarily dedicated to the QB position. After this year, anything is open.
GREAT point

His contract is structured the way it is because Tebow is a street FA who deserves no guarantees. If you want to make the case that the the escalators are something most players don't get, that might make more sense. But the opposite one doesn't, IMO.

As for this:

How is this different than any other player about to be tossed aside in a few weeks?

His roll will be personal protector on ST with an occasional direct snap on 4th and short near midfield. He will be a look QB for certain QBs we will see throughout the year. He will see some plays as a FB or TE, especially plays involving misdirection. JMD likes trickery, so expect to see some sort of complicated, slow-devolving play involving him which, as usual, goes nowhere. He will be a leader and good example in the locker room. He is Kraft's anti-Ahern. He has to stay since BB's deal with the Devil expired and BB now has a deal with God. I didn't see the actual contract, but I imagine God probably said, "If ye wantith to changeth thee name of ye boat to 'VI Rings' ye besteth find a spot for my Timmy."

Honestly, this is the best argument for keeping Tim that I've seen.

He's not '1st Round Pick Guy' anymore. He's a training camp cut away from being Jamarcus Russell. That's fact.

I agree he will be listed at QB. the same way slater is listed as a WR. everyone knows he just a ST player. I don't care where they play tebow. As long as it's not at QB. best post I read about why the pats will keep tebow.

You and Os can poke fun all you want but I believe BB cares too much about Tebow to cast him off the very same way he sent Kafka packing. BB will make sure the Jags are ready and willing.

I'm not poking fun, I'm seriously befuddled why Bill would be more invested in Tim than any other player.

So you think instead of cutting him, they'll trade him to the Jags?

Sir Thomas is on a distinguished roadSir Thomas is on a distinguished road
Every player has to transition from college to pro. Some do well quickly. Most are successful because of smart Coaches. Some great players never make it because they are not broke into the system properly.

Josh brought Tebow into the Denver organization spending time working with him. Then he got fired and Fox came in who by the way did a terrible job with the Panthers. Then you had a summer of Orton going to start...no Tebow was starting. Finally decided on trading Orton and start Tebow then suddenly doing a reverse course in starting Orton. Orton started the season 1 and 4. Denver decided to go ahead and trade Orton and start Tebow. The problem was they did not have a playbook ready for Tebow so they threw out the playbook and wing it. Tebow took them to the playoff only to be knocked of by a Bill Belihick who knew how Tebow worked.
Elway made big statement that Tebow will be their started and that he will personally work with Tebow then bam! They got Peyton Manning. Don't blame them.

Tebow was traded to the Jets with a new Offensive coordinator who claimed he knew how to set up and run the "wild-cat". Wasted a whole summer to do that instead of prepping Tebow and McElroy to back up Sanchez. They ran special ill conceived plays for Tebow barely giving him a chance to get going. When they finally yanked Sanchez who was doing lousily and bypassed Tebow to play a highly touted McElroy. In his first full game he played terrible against the Chargers. When McElroy got a concussion they put Sancehz back in.

Sorry, that was a typo.

McElroy was a 7th round pick. 7th round picks are never highly touted.

I'm going to ignore the part where you had Tebow and McElroy backing up Brady.
