True.

But one of the points of all this for me is that these potential interior sub-rushers should be good enough against the run that the front seven doesn't get killed by it if an opponent goes to it in hurry-up mode while the defense is in a rush-and-cover sub-package. And, that's also where Spikes comes in. With him in the middle, even a somewhat weaker-against-the-run interior DL has its butt covered to a great degree (and, needless to say, both edge-rushers must be good in run-D and setting the edge at all times).

Not seeing what the drop off would be with Hightower in Spikes role and Collins outside in coverage.

I don't know that there would be a dropoff, but I don't know that there wouldn't be, either. It seems fairly apparent to me, though, that Spikes being healthy for a full season in 2012 helped make the run defense the most efficient it's been since the 2003-2006 period. I'm not saying that's all Spikes, but run-D seems notably worse when he's not on the field for significant snaps. Maybe Hightower can be as effective as Spikes at MLB, though I can't say that I saw it clearly last season.

Anyway, BB is probably the only one who has clear evidence one way or the other, and I'm sure he'll say, "we'll just have to see how it goes."

Blount renegotiated from $1.2 mil to $600K and only half that should he hit IR per CSSNE.

Good tip. Thanks.

My tracking sheet now shows cap space of just over $5M, plus the $5.7 in rollover.
