lol, that's my point. Mistake to let him go, non mistake would be keep him for 137 mil. Who leaves? Its hard to build a team that can get to superbowls shelling out that kind of money. Ask ask the ravens.

Wow, lol. If Jimmy G. is worth that much, Kirk Cousins is really going to take the team that signs him to the bank! Cousins must be laughing himself insane. Ha ha, Elway is really going to have to spread his ass cheeks wide.

If money is being made I'd rather it go to the players than the owners, and to the owners rather than the league office.

They had the most cap space in the league prior to the signing. After the signing, they are #2 behind Cleveland and still have $97M available. If I understand things correctly, the main reason for the space is because they underspent last year by $59M and that gets carried over to this year.

By contrast, the Pats are current #24 with $17M available.

Ah, I see the play now. JG plays decent, but not spectacular enough, to be kept around and then, after year 2, he gets cut and re-signs with the Pats, after Brady hangs em up. Nice.

We can't afford him, and why would we want a guy that does not play good.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Maybe we should get the secret eagles system, their backup won superbowl. Can you imagine if cassel won a superbowl?

John Clayton is saying the rumor was the Pats were willing to pay JG 16 million per year to be a backup.

It is.

3yrs 90 guaranteed
I agree. Jimmy G is the real deal. Complete package. It looks like Jed York finally has figured out to let his football people do their thing & stay out of the way other than writing the checks. John Lynch is a smart man & if he drafts well the 49ers are going to be tough for a long time.
