I think Luka Modric is playing out of his mind right now for Croatia.

For those that don't follow the game, he's a midfielder that plays for Real Madrid and known as a fine player, but he seems to be willing his team to win to my eyes in this WC and is all over the field. Modric is sort of a skinny, wiry little guy with a slacker haircut and doesn't look like a futbol diva, but he has a beautiful touch on the ball, great field vision and never seems to get tired. He can put the boot on it, too. He gets beat on and never stops coming. He just gets back up and doesn't waste time writhing on the grass doing the dying swan.

If the match is still in doubt late then I like him to step it up beat France because he's been doing that sort of thing throughout the Cup. The guy is intense, but always cool. No drama with this guy, which is rare for a star of his magnitude.

I just don't like the French. I can't help myself. Croatia doesn't have their level of talent overall, but they don't have anybody with the iron testicles that Modric has.

He's a monster. Also he's played pretty much every minute save a few when he was subbed out against England, which means he's played three games with extra time and even penalties in the first two knockout games. It's beyond impressive.

Modric is at least in the midfield top three players in a generation.
He was voted best midfielder by UEFA last year and it's refreshing to see someone playing at level or above this world cup when most of the big stars have been a bit underwhelming.

For historical reasons, I'm not an England fan (too many hooligans and booing United players). I thought they were very lucky to have an easy run to the semis. They got found out against Croatia and Belgium yesterday.

In American Football terms, they have a reasonable D, with an OK rushing game. They can overpower weaker teams. However, they lack a top notch QB and guile to pick teams apart.

Woohoo, it is finally almost over today and can quit screwing with our normal syndicated programs we air! When you work at a television station, you learn to hate sports because it never ends on time.
