LB had a total of 11 carries for 31 yards the other 14 carries for 73 yards were spread out between 4 players.
So they ran the ball 25 times for 102 yards. Not really much of a rushing attack used in that game.

11 for 31 - 2.9 ypc and a red zone fumble.

14 for 73 - 5.0 ypc and 2 TDs.

That is the point. If you don't see the difference, then I don't know what to tell you.

We went though this silliness years ago when someone pointed out that Kevin Faulk was a better runner than Cory Dillion most games because had more ypc.

Unless you're a Felger acolyte and have an unreasonable hate for Blount, you have to see that when Blount is in the game, it is almost always a running down and everyone in the stadium knows he isn't there to catch a pass.

Not taking anything away from James White, but he is NOT and never will be the hammer back that Blount is. White gets a lot of draws and toss sweeps, runs that occur on passing downs with passing personnel and defenses, that Blount doesn't get, just as Faulk got the same benefit of misdirection that Dillon didn't.

I'm not a Blount Champion. He isn't Mike Alstott and I'd much rather have Gillislee, but looking at stats blindly to 'prove' Blount sucked is just numb.

That's exactly the thing BB/Josh McD are trying to get away from, imo. Having a dual threat RB is more efficient in almost every situation because it keeps the defense guessing between run or pass. With the defense on its heels and with well designed plays, a thumper is no longer necessary or preferable. The RB that can run or receive gives the O more options and is therefore more productive.

We saw evidence of that on the last play of the SB. Prior to the snap, I'd bet not 1 of us would have guessed it would be White on a naked run wide right. ATL didn't either and even though they played it as well as possible, White's talent, strength and quickness got him in for the winning score. We'll never know if Blount could have gotten in and I won't speculate on that but the fact is that White did get in.

Good. It's one thing that drives me effing crazy, the playcall predictability factor with him, Dillon, LoMo, etc. All the ones who weren't much in the passing game/pass pro. Dillon was awesome enough in 04 that it didn't matter that everyone knew it was a run when he was in, and he was good enough in pass pro that it wasn't ALWAYS a given. But that type of back (one dimensional) isn't that much of a need anymore.

Good luck to #LegCarrot. He was a great teammate, and loved playing for the Pats and it showed. I wish him well.

Now imagine 3 RBs who can all run and catch the ball!

Believe or not, Burkhead and Gillislee both had better catch % last year than White. Unbelievable but true. This offense should be a real treat for us and a real headache for opponents.

I sincerely doubt Blount would have scored on that play. The defense would have played Blount much differenty than they did White. That's the beauty of keeping the defense honest and misdirection, why Faulk could repeatedly rack up games with more ypc than Dillon.

I am by no means a Blount hater but man was he awful in the post-season outside of his one beast mode type run vs the Steelers. I am really looking forward to what Gisilee can bring.

Belichick got every ounce of remaining football blood out of Blount in my opinion. Best of luck to LG, but he's done.
