The last player to do that in a game was... Khalil Mack in Week 12, 2016 against the Panthers.
And Mack disappeared in the 2nd half - and they weren't doubling him.

So, awesome that he had a great quarter and a half, but that's why I'm not paying a pass rusher 20-something million a year.

I was rooting for him...

Hopefully he learns fast.

Is he related to Tony Romo? He kinda looks like him.

As an unrelated note, I saw a couple of occasions in different games (mostly red zone) where teams were trying to use a two-minute offense and just couldn't get anything done. It was pathetic to see some of them try. Tyrod being Tyrod and plenty of others.

It made me think that we have been spoiled rotten by Brady. Nobody gets more done inside of two minutes than us and it goes back decades. He was the clock master from the moment he stepped onto an NFL field.
Hicks was, awesome. I don't do a ton of Belichick personnel second-guessing, but that's one I look back at and sigh about.

I think he ends up being a journeyman, which is better than I honestly expected him to be coming out.

He was gassed after all of his first half greatness...

His first few games are like preseason...

Obviously. So in the end, when you actually needed him, he wasn't there, and he was wasting QB money.

It's harsh, because he had a good first half, really good, but that's a lot of money to someone who's going to give you 20 snaps.

Von Miller, to me, is an exception, because he always gives full, consistent, disruptive effort, and even so, his cap hit's only north of 10 mil this year (gets into the 25 mil range next year and beyond).

This isn't the first time Mack has disappeared in a game - how did he do against the Patriots last year? I'm pretty sure he had a disruptive 1st quarter, until they got behind. I do like the player a lot, but I don't like him at that number.

Meh. Convert that shit in to a signing bonus on a contract extension.

You have a quick hook with these qb's. You're kinda like the Ol' ball coach when he was at UF. You just call them out Asap. I mean that in a good way. Painful as it is I try, I really try, to give these youngsters a little time to show me something. Hell, Darnold is only 21. A young 21 at that. I'm not sure even sure he is old enough to rent a freaking car.

I mean, I've been wrong plenty, about a lot of things, but you're right. I see a kid play a couple of times in college, and I sort of determine whether he can play or not.

If Darnold had come out two years ago, I may have a different opinion than I do now. He had his coronation tour last year, and he had 13 picks as a RS SO, his first year as a full-time starter. Comp % down from his RS FR year, TDs down, TOs up.

Maybe he's just 'not ready', in which case, why the blue fuck is he playing tonight? He needs to work on his accuracy and decision-making, because unlike some of these other bums (Josh Allen), the mechanics are there. Good pace, accurate enough on his throws downfield, decent movement in the pocket - stuff you usually don't see from these guys.

Like, THIS is a guy who could be developed - but from what I saw, how much of it was against Arizona St. with his pro-caliber WRs and OL? That's what put me over the top with Mayfield, was two years ago, he had lock pro talent around him, last year, not so much. Wentz had no talent around him, and the dude never lost (thankfully the ND St. games were constantly shown for a few years there).

Bridgewater should be the starter for the Jets. Darnold should be holding a clipboard and taking notes. But this is the JETE, so I'm not expecting much of anything. Hopefully for the kid, he doesn't get David Carr'd, and will be able to have a resurgence with another team.

But back to Trubisky, I see what the scouts do see in him. Size, good mobility, especially some good mobility in the pocket, and does have a good arm. I think there's a school of thought among NFL coaches and scouts that accuracy can be taught...I'm not sure that that's true. General accuracy is just something you can do, or not to, imo. Now when you get to Brady's level, and you can throw to the 8 OR the 7 and put it right there on the guy, that's coaching and practice.

That 4th down play the Bears had in the 4th quarter, that throwback to the TE or RB or whatever it was. If Trubisky puts that throw on a line, in front of the receiver, that's a first down, easily. Instead, he lollipops it all the way back across the field, and the Bears don't stand a chance of picking it up. That's Trubisky, to me. Game gets tough, has to make a big play, panics.
