This week's Inside The NFL
There were two things notable about this weeks episode.
First had to do with the highlights. They showed Faulk urging on his teammates on the sideline during the 4th Q. The globe made a reference to this today. It is worth watching the show just to see that bit (it's in the first highlight segment so you won't have to watch the rest if you don't want to). Also, they had footage of BB talk and Tedy's "ah yeah" cheer in the locker room after the game, which is notable since one almost never sees that on the highlight shows. I was also reassured by the "brilliant analysis" by the talking heads. They assured us that the Colts should be encouraged by Sunday's game because they lost but, "they were missing guys", "if they hadn't dropped easy catches", 'the defense stopped Brady, they just ran out of gas", etc. they would have won that game. Hmmmmmm.... Don't recall similar comments about the Pats after the last few games against the Colts. But the prize goes to Collingsworth for his comment that the Pats would now "water the field" in Foxborough to make it a slow muddy track for any future games there. Apparently he forgot that the Pats switched to field turf last season. I was worried when those guys were speaking the praise of the Pats since they are the Col Klink of sports analysis. I feel much better now. |

I thought the highlights with Kevin Faulk on the sidelines were very interesting. I never imagined him as the vocal leader type exhorting his teammates.
I think the commentary by the hosts is pretty credible. Of course Chris Collingsworth forgot that they no longer have 100% real grass in Foxboro. I don't know how any rational Patriots fan could feel confident about the Patriots' ability to beat the Colts twice in one season, although I honestly do think they will beat the Colts again, if they have to. I love the look on that Colts' fan on the sidelines. The guy with the earing. |

It's gotten to the point that I pretty much have to mute that show until the highlights run.
I had Phil Simms on mute for about 1/3 of that game. The national media is that bad, and Simms is a closet Pats fan! In all seriousness, one of the best aspects of going to games is not having to listen to any of network nitwits. |

I also liked this quote...
It's easy to forget about him with wide receivers Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Donte' Stallworth grabbing both footballs and headlines, but while Faulk isn't shiny and new, he's reliable. "Everybody is always happy with new toys, and there's nothing wrong with new toys, but it's the old ones that are really important," said Watson. "He's not an ego guy, but everybody on the team knows how important he is to the team." |

I remember seeing some clips in the Super Bowl films of Kevin talking on the sidelines and exhorting the troops. I especially remember the clip from SB XXXVIII.He's a quiet type but seems to become chatty during a game. |

Good article in the Globe about Faulk; I don't have HBO
but on the NFL replay, I noticed Asante firing up the guys in the huddle; is that new? |
