Raimondo is an Auntie Tom to those outspoken members of the gay community, and he perpetuates the myth that they represent the entire community, which is threatening to those with anti-gay sentiments. Fair enough. It still doesn't appear to me that "Auntie Tom" is the appropriate term given that it is a play on "Uncle Tom," but back to the topic at hand.
