He explained to me that he was trained to ask a lot of "yes" questions. In other words, questions that anyone with half a brain would answer with a "yes". The purpose was to put the potential customer into a positive frame of mind toward the product being sold. He said that he didn't know what he would do if anyone answered with a "no".

A few week's later, I received a call from someone trying to sell vitamins. I listened to her spiel about how amazing these vitamins were. When she was finished, she asked . . . "Now wouldn't you enjoy feeling healthier and more energetic?"

Remembering my encylopedia friend's words, I decided to be that person without half a brain to see what would happen. I responded to her question by saying . . . "Not really. I rather enjoy feeling sick and lethargic." She sputtered a bit and quickly ended the call.

I'm sharing this long story because it was what I thought of when I read the Democrat propositions you posted. While the Republican propositions seemed more clear cut, the Democrat ones came over to me as nothing more than a salesperson's questions meant to put one into a positive frame of mind towards what is being sold.

For example, I look at this one:

Proposition #6
Right to Be Free from Violence
Should everyone in Texas have the right to live a life free from violence—gun violence, racial hatred, terrorism, domestic violence, bullying, harassment or sexual assault—so Texans can grow in a safe environment?

I would think that anyone with half a brain would agree that we should be able to live a life free from violence. However, they give no specifics on how they plan to go about making this possible.

Again, to me those are nothing more than a salesperson's questions that are meant to put others in a positive frame of mind towards whatever it is that they are trying to sell.
