What's Your Favorite Summer Drink?

1 Attachment(s)
Starting to get hot around here in NO CA and I am experiencing the onset of the constant thirstys. Went into a café the other day and ordered an orange freeze. Waiter looked at me like I had dropped from Mars. A what? So I had to come home and make one myself: Juiced up a bunch of those Cuties mandarin oranges and threw into a blender with orange sherbet and a splash of club soda, topped with twist of whipped cream. Ahhhh! Summer!!

So what quenches your thirst on a hot day in the summertime? I'm expecting many beer responses and prolly some iced tea/coffee, but do you have something in particular that quenches your thirst on a hot day?

Raspberry lime rickey.

A New England tradition from a previous century.

I don't drink anymore, but this looks like it would lend itself to a great non-alcoholic version [unlike Schrute's margarita which is a whole different animal without the tequila]. The link you posted actually includes a recipe that I'm definitely gonna try out. Thanks!

This.

I never could drink gin and tonic. Just couldn't get past that pine/juniper aroma and taste. Over the years I found people either loved 'em or hated 'em.

I'm boring. Iced :coffee: or iced latte (make it a quad) for me.

Well Gin's one of those things that if you don't drink top shelf, it makes a huge difference.

It's a relatively complex mixture, and it's easy to screw up.

It is technically the first "flavored vodka" and there is no single recipe for how one flavors it, other than it must include juniper.

So the less expensive gins not only taste a whole lot worse, they are far more likely to give you a hangover.

Beer is never boring! :toast:

of the "summer beers", I like the Harpoon Big Squeeze Shandy (grapefruit)
the best.

Sam Summer, Wachusett Summer, Brooklyn Summer, Sam Porch Rocker, Leigenkugel Shandy, etc., etc., etc...........

Water, big glass of water, ice cold

The lime Ricky is very good non alcoholic drink.

I love a beer out of the ice filled cooler.

Gin and tonic sounds great but it needs a large wedge of line and be Bombay.
And on that note vodka and tonic with a splash of cran works wonders too

Needless to say, if it is cold or over ice I am pretty easy.
