"unique" tweets means that it's not spambots. It means someone is writing them.

No it doesn't.

2. Analysis and Key Findings
We identified nine accounts that had at least one of the criteria for a Russian-linkedaccount and promoted election-related content Tweets that, based on our manual review, violatedexisting or recently implemented ads policies, such as those prohibiting inflammatory or low-quality content. Two of those accounts were @RT_COM and @RT_America. Those two accountsrepresented the vast majority of the promoted Tweets, spend and impressions for the suspectgroup identified in our review. Together, the two accounts spent $516,900 in advertising in2016, with $234,600 of that amount devoted to ads that were served to users in the U.S. Duringthat period, the two accounts promoted 1,912 Tweets and generated approximately 192 millionimpressions across all ad campaigns, with approximately 53.5 million representing impressionsgenerated by U.S.-based users. On Thursday, October 26, 2017, Twitter announced that it would no longer acceptadvertisements from RT and will donate the $1.9 million that RT had spent globally onadvertising on Twitter to academic research into elections and civil engagement. The remaining seven accounts that our review identified represented small, apparentlyunconnected actors. Those accounts spent a combined total of $2,282 on advertising throughTwitter in 2016, with $1,184 of this amount spent on ads that were served to users in the U.S.Our available impressions data indicates that in 2016, those accounts ran 404 promoted Tweetsand generated a total of 2.29 million impressions across all ad campaigns.

"We found RT America to be the only Russian account with any traffic" ROFL ROFL ROFL

So, once again....a public media news network is the only thing they've got for "Russian spies overturning the election".

Damn, we had better ban BBC and Sky news from reporting on US elections! <GASP!> Al Jazeera might flip the election to a pro Al Qaeda candidate!

Lord Help Us!

We must censor all foreign media in the US. No outside information must be allowed! ROFL ROFL ROFL

we have always been at war with eastasia

Oh, is Baron defending Russian Bots now?

I can see why that would be an issue he cares deeply about....

The story on Trump's subdomains is sort of interesting. Baron would get a good week out of it if it were Hillary's servers

It's fascinating to watch the party that loves to complain about the country being run by "old white men" turn to an "old white man," as the "future" of the party.

I'm sure Russia is the only country on the planet with Twitter accounts tweeting about the US elections. And only in glowing terms about Trump. :coffee:

OK so Kelly Ann Conway says Politicizing the texas mass shooting is disrespectful to the dead.

With a straight face..

One week after her boss blamed Chuck Schumer for the New York truck attack because he supported the visa program the attacker used to enter the country.

The ethics of politicizing tragedy seem wholely dependent on if that politicization supports or detracts from the individual's personal politics.

This is 100% bi-partisan.

No mention of the Paradise Papers? I'm disappointed.

Yeah I just saw that and haven't begun to unpack it.

There's so ****ing much it's impossible to keep up.

We need to have a discussion about the 0.01%!

Darth Despot 11-07-2017 01:37 PM

The douchbagery to be exposed by these papers will be super duper bi-partisan.

Some pretty juicy stuff revealed in the UK already.

The Queen has been offshoring her private assets (and she does actually pay taxes!)
Prince Charles the same, I believe.
Random sports stars.

But worst of all, although I haven't had a chance to really delve into that aspect, is the mega-ultra-unashamed tax dodging by multinationals.
Zuckerberg might try to present an image of a do-good philanthropist, but apparently Facebook has been shifting money around like whoa to avoid paying corporate taxes. Apple the same.

I hope practices will change and it won't all be written off as "oh, but we owe it to our shareholders"
