ROFL ROFL

C'mon guys, I'm sitting here in a cube laughing my ass off and people are poking their heads in to see what's so funny.

I never thought when I posted an innocent weather report that this would evolve into one of the funniest threads on this board.

Thats what it's all about Bideau. Bringing you football news with a twist.

OK, serious weather talk for a moment.

The forecasters, as of Thursday evening, are now agreeing that we'll get hit with some degree of snowstorm. Estimates run from 6-15 inches, depending on who you listen to. It should start Friday night/Saturday morning. It may still be snowing Sunday at noon.

This will have an impact on 'Fin travel plans. They'll probably have to think about traveling tomorrow rather than Saturday. They should have alot of spare time on their hands in the hotel. Think someone could send them a Lawrence Taylor gift :p

Looks like a nice early season Nor'Easter, eh? The Dolphins will almost certainly have to fly in tomorrow.

I made the call to 1-800-LTS-HOES.

OK, back to the fun stuff. Here's the latest prose from the weather writers at WBZ4.com.

Quote:

Currently, most signs suggest that a significant storm will evolve off Delmarva tomorrow. We are on the threshold of a classic Nor'easter as healthy high pressure in southern Canada contributes cold air in tandem with an intensifying storm south of Nantucket. The consensus of a myriad of computer models is now trending towards a high impact event here. Previous analysis placed the governing upper air low pressure system deeply south out of our territory. Latest indications do not confirm this thinking with this feature evolving precariously close to southern New England. Consequently, it is prudent to pump up the potential amounts to more than a foot west and north of Boston with 8-12" in the city and lower totals on the South Shore and especially Cape Cod where a mixing or plain rain occurs for a period of time. The stripe of heaviest snow will lie in an arc 40 or more miles west and north of Boston into the southern portions of northern New England. High tides near 10am and 10pm this weekend will feature some coastal flooding and wave battery particularly Sunday morning. With a convergence of solutions from the myriad of computer models which serve as forecast guidance, it now appears convincing enough to pull out all the stops.
I hope everyone has enough milk, bread and fuel because this just may be the end of the world as we know it. Anytime there's a convergence of solutions, its time to panic.

Whomever is writing these reports is infatuated with the word "myriad".

Sounds like the heaviest snow will now fall north and west of the city, with lighter amounts (rain) to the south... ie Foxboro.

We'll find out on Sunday. Weather forecasting around here is still just a best guess. Complicating matters is a little contract dispute between the state and snow plow drivers. Should make for an interesting ride to the stadium.

I hope my snowblower works this year.

This forcast is starting to look plowable.

Let's go to the radar map:

http://i.cnn.net/cnn/.element/img/1....u/cnn_nex2.png

Here we can clearly see the disturbance forming to the North and East of Delmarva proper. This has the potential, due to the confluence of models, to look vastly different than it appears, but not as different as we anticipate. I think we can pull out all the stops on this now. Stay tuned. Back to you Ken.

bideau 12-06-2003 09:38 AM

OK folks, we're officially in the throes of the Delmarvian Cyclogenesis. Current predictions are for 18-24" with snow continuing up to game time.

I've normally got a 25 minute drive to the stadium. I'm hoping I'll be able to get out of my driveway and off my street. For me, it will be a matter of safely getting to and from the stadium. My gut feeling is that the stadium will be fairly empty. It's alot to ask anyone to drive with that much snow on the ground and still coming down.

I wonder how the players and game officials are going to make out getting there. If the Fins waited until today to come in, they're going to be going through travel hell. I wonder how the grounds crew will get the field even semi playable. The seats will be under 2 feet of snow. Should be interesting for the ones that make it. This is not like the Snow Bowl. That snow didn't start until a few hours before game time. I was in the lot when the snow started.

The bottom line is that this will be a logistical nightmare for everyone involved.
