The first time we brought my younger son to baseball practice with a cup , he spent the entire car trip tapping a baseball against his cup.

Neither of my kids ever wore one for soccer. My 13 yr old has played almost exclusivly at goalie for the last 5 years. Never been an issue. That said, a little extra protection cant hurt. A soccer ball kicked hard could do damage, and a cup can prevent, or at least minimize it.

I grew up with 2 sisters, had 99% female cousins and had 3 daughters before I had sons. This is all new to me. For what I know about the male privates is nothing that applies to my kids.
