View Full Version : Bush is deceiving Americans with the word "Insurgents."
But....it's a good tactic, probably dreamed up by Karl Rove.
The individuals that are responsible for the majority of the attacks on our troops, and on other Iraqis that are assisting our troops, are for the most part Iraqi citizens....not people from other countries.
They are, for all intents and purposes, fighting against a foreign invader, in a war.
If we, as Americans, were to do the same thing to an invader, and occupier, of our country, we would not be called insurgents, we would be called "freedom fighters."
But, by using the word "insurgents" are administration has created a feeling, in the minds of Americans, that those people are doing something illegal, and that they are bad people, when in fact, they are no less a freedom fighter than Americans would be if we were doing the same thing to an occupying force of our country.
It is just another brilliant method of deceit by Rove and the administration.
SO SOMEONE, PLEASE TELL ME WHY WE ARE IN IRAQ?
No one has had a justifiable answer yet. WHY ARE WE IN IRAQ WHERE OUR MEN AND WOMEN ARE BEING KILLED, WHY?

Apparently you have no justifiable answer to the question. Not unusual. Hide behind the lie.

We are there to steal all of the oil and impose a neo-conservative, facist government on the innocent Iraqi people.
How was that?

Of course the majority of the insurgents are not Iraqis, and therefore can't really be "freedom fighters." Further, even the Iraqis fighting against the US DO NOT REPRESENT the majority of Iraqi civilians. They are a MINORITY fighting to reinstate a dictatorial, minority government.

To my ignorant mind, "freedom" is only achieved when
1) A form of government with its powers explictly defined by a constitution, is in place
2) The people and parties that occupy positions of power within that government have been elected by the citizens of that country
On one side, you have a group of Iraqis, Americans, and others who are fighting to establish these things. This is the side that has been working to rebuild the infrastructure: schools, hospitals, industries, etc. that are neccessary in order for democracy to thrive. You should remember that many of these things were destroyed, not because they were targeted by the evil US occupying forces, but because they were used for military purposes by a government that did not hesitate to use its most vulnerable citizens as human shields.
On the other side you have a group of Iraqis and foreigners doing everything they can to prevent the establishment of democratic institutions. This group is now openly alligned with Al Qaeda, who is providing financing and training for their activities. The aim of these people is to establish a repressive Islamist regime. They believe that the modern, western world is evil, and they want to purge all vestiges of it from their country.
Fine. But they don't want to let the people decide on this form of society for themselves. They want to forcibly impose it upon them, as the Taliban did in Afghanistan. They are certainly smart enough to realize what choice will be made by people who are free to choose between building a society that can provide jobs, education, health care, food, but most of all hope; and one that brutally forces them to live by the most extreme, fundamentalist interpretation of the rules of Islam.
Look, you can argue all you want about whether we really have any hope of establishing democracy in this godforsaken place; and certainly you can question whether it's worth a single American life to even try.
But how can you be so blinded by your hatred of George Bush that you confuse these people with "freedom fighters?"
Point is, they WERE NOT alligned with Al Quaida until we invadeded THEIR country, on a false premise...as has been proven by today's story about our Govt. giving up the hunt for WMD's and Bush saying he still would have done it becasue they WERE a threat to us and we are "protecting the American People."
EXCUSE ME???? How is the invasion of Iraq protecting the American people? Bush continues to deceive, and lie.
EXPLAIN TO ME HOW WE ARE "PROTECTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE" by our presence in Iraq, as Americans continue to die, as well as THOUSANDS OF IRAQIS....

Let me get this straight...Iranians, members of Al Quaida, and others, are infiltrating into Iraq due to the power void created by the deposing of Saddam Hussein, and are actively recruiting impressionable and albeit "misinformed" Iraqi citizens into picking up arms against Americans under the false guise of fighting for freedom. But in reality they are simply using them and the future of their country as a pawn in their war against the west, and this in your mind is more palatable then us helping them set up a democratic style republic in which they can vote and have due process of the law?
on a false premise...
That's your opinion. Many people feel that the possibility of WMD's, the violation of UN resolution 1441, and the harboring of known terrorists was a valid premise.
as has been proven by today's story about our Govt. giving up the hunt for WMD's and Bush saying he still would have done it becasue they WERE a threat to us and we are "protecting the American People."
I'm still not convinced...sorry...If Saddam Hussein didn't have any WMD's yet still chose to thumb his nose at the world and play games with weapons inspectors ultimately resulting in the death of his 2 sons, and his imprisonment...then he has to be the dumbest SOB in the history of the world, or he had WMD's. If its the former, I don't blame GW. Everyone, I repeat, EVERYONE, thought he had WMDs.
EXCUSE ME???? How is the invasion of Iraq protecting the American people? Bush continues to deceive, and lie.
There are many reasons for this. One that jumps out, requires that you place yourself in a time capsule and travel back to the afternoon of September 11th. That event didn't come out of nowhere, yet shocked the crap out of everyone. Why? Because during the 90s we felt that we could bury our heads in the sand and the growing terrorist problem would simply disappear. This logic is what caused us to put up with Saddam's crap for 10 years. Well, here we had a handful of guys who had just highjacked a couple of plane's with box cutters and killed thousands of people. And there you had Saddam Hussein supposedly in possession of WMD's thumbing his nose at the entire world, using money from the oil for food program, without any intelligence, or any clue as to what he possibly could've been planning.
EXPLAIN TO ME HOW WE ARE "PROTECTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE" by our presence in Iraq, as Americans continue to die, as well as THOUSANDS OF IRAQIS....
Currently, our presence in Iraq is due to our responsibility to finish what we started. I'm sure you were one of those people cursing Bush Sr. for not going to battle with the Kurds in 1991, yet now you are cursing GW for seeing things through. It's illogical
