Did anybody see this? Michael Powell gave a press conference today, where he condemned this promo.

Now to be honest, I missed it, but my understanding was that there was no nudity, no foul language, and that all they did was get into the shower together...

Isn't there worse stuff being show on daytime soap opera's???

This seems absolutely ridiculous to me, and if in fact Powell issues fines, based upon what I know, I will be calling for his resignation.

(bideau I'm completely serious)

(bideau I'm completely serious) I would have to agree. This was not a big deal, and there was nothing in that promo that should draw a fine, in my opinion.

OK, I'll pretend not to be shocked :D

Seriously, this whole thing is getting out of hand. This really is coming down to a simple premise. When someone chooses to watch a soap or even Desperate Housewives, they know what they'll be getting. The one's complaining about the MNF spot are saying if they had known it was going to be on, they could have avoided it. I can see the point of this argument, although I think its a little weak. There was a point in time when I didn't expect to hear about 4 hour erections during commercial breaks either. And last night, I saw a commercial for a new and improved version of K-Y jelly!! The commercials for sex toys is just around the corner.

But truly, some people are extremely thin skinned. The most anyone saw was her bare back. Yes, it was provocative and tittilating. But I thought it was also pretty stupid. My only reaction was to cringe because neither TO nor Sheridan can act. And I hated the thought of giving TO any more limelight than he already has.

If Powell hands down a fine, he's going to have to come up with one hell of a reason. There were no taboos broken whatsoever.

I've seen worse in Shampoo commercials. Herbal Essence anyone?

Ah yes, the "organic" shampoo. A bunch of models doing their best Meg Ryan impression.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is.

There isn't a big deal. The only reason it's a big deal is because ESPN took the story and ran it 800 times on Sportscenter. Since ABC and ESPN are both Disney subsidiaries, perhaps it was planned to bring even more attention than it normally would have? It's an advertising coup.

You hit the nail on the head - someone ought to get a big fat raise for that idea. I've never heard so much commotion over something so trivial.
