I took a trip to NYC this weekend in order to visit some friends, and was very disturbed by what I found.

Obviously, this weekend, the hot topic was the election, and my friends, all of whom are democrats, couldn't wait to jump on me, being the lone republican.

Some points:

1.) They seem utterly perplexed that it was even remotely possible that Bush could win. I saw many of them looking at the red county/blue county map scratching their head.

2.) For people who describe themselves as "liberal" they sure are close minded, prejudice, and opionated. I heard many comments along the lines of..."How dare those backwards hicks vote for Bush, afterall they owe everything to us! We do everything and they just reap the benefits."

3.) They seem stuck on 2 issues: Gay marriage and abortion. Not that these aren't necessarily important issues, but they can't get away from them. I tried explaining to them, that when I went into the voting booth, neither of these 2 issues were even on my radar screen.

*And in actuality it looks like forcing "gay marriage" into the spotlight may have been their own undoing.

4.) There is an extreme state of denial amongst all of them. They were all obsessed with the 3000 invalid votes in Ohio, instead of looking inward and figuring out what "they" as a party did wrong. This attitude does not bode well for the future of their party.

In recap, I've never come across a group of people so high on themselves, and so down on everyone else. A group of people who think that their opinion is the only one that should matter, and to hell with everyone else.

If this is the future of the democratic party, they are in more trouble then I previously believed.

They’re your friends...

I have never seen a post so intent on describing your friends as idiots.

Perhaps your too good for them.

bustah, what is wrong with you? i don't see anywhere that spidey calls his friends idiots. you have completely lost any objective thought when it comes to politics. i'm sorry, just my observation.

I have bustah on ignore so I can't see what he writes unless you quote it. He is an immature idiot who just tries to harrass me whenever I post something in here for some strange reason...hence why I have him on ignore.

Notice that I put immature idiot in bold to illustrate the fact that while I don't think that my friends are idiots I definitely think that he is.

I tried having fun with it before, and everyone got pissed off. So I left the board for a while thinking it would cool down. But no, as soon as I returned he was right back at it.

Honestly, it has gone beyond absurd, and I find absolutely no humor in it anymore, it is just totally annoying at this point. When people started lumping the 2 of us together, I figured that if I just put him on ignore and went about my business that it would be possible for me to retain some dignity, and engage in some enlightening debate.

point taken. i will say that ballbustah has undergone a type of metamorphasis over the past couple of months.

bustah, you are a veteran of the message board scene. you are one of the original "ballbuster's" over at the bills board. i was once a member of that board too, until they decided to go adolph hitler on my arse and kick me out. anyways, i think you have kinda lost a bit of your edge lately. i'm not trying to degrade you, just lending you an outsider's perspective. don't take it personally.

I try to keep it lively at times.
If you use the same old, same old, people tend not to listen.
I change it up every once in a while to keep it interesting.

Plus Spiderman is fixated on Bush and his cronies.
You would think he would talk football once in a while but in most cases he brings up the same old crap over and over again.
It is very boring. I think Spiderman has a one track mind.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of viewing this site while not logged in and came across this little gem.

let me say a few words.

1.) Ballbustah everyone in here thinks you are dumb, your comments look like they were written by a 12 year old.

2.) Your obsession with me has gone way beyond absurd. Not only do you follow everything that I write on this board, but now you make a comment about what I write on the football board. For the record, I posted a number of comments on that board yesterday, but the mere fact that you are searching both boards for me is very disturbing.

3.) Your constant mantra has been that I constantly repeat myself. Well let's see ... yesterday I started 2 threads. The first was on the political attitude in NY and the 2nd was about the appointment of the next Chief Justice...oh I see you're right all I do is drone on and on about Bush and is cronies...

4.) For a guy obsessed with what I drone on and on about, you never write anything other then "Bush is a dumb dumb" or "Bush is an idiot". Do you think this is funny? Or are you really just incredibly immature and think that comments like this are convincing?

In the end, I have way too much going on in my life to be bothered by the likes of you. I've grown way too tired and bored at your constant nipping, and if the mods are going to allow you to constantly harrass me, then I guess I'll just leave. In fact, I already feel like a loser for even wasting my time writing this.

Perhaps it is only the Bush supporters who think I am dumb.

Perhaps you look like an idiot to Kerry supporters?

Your rants on Bush are getting very tiresome. Why don't you give it a rest for a little while. Why do you have to shove Bush down everyone's throat? People don't like you pushing the Bush agenda every chance you get.

Please.... talk some football instead of politics.

Why don't you take some of your own advice??? You don't get to dictate what is written in this forum. Just because you don't like to read what I write, doesn't give you the right to try and censor me. What a typical liberal you are...As I posted above, you rail about the 1st Amendment, then when someone like me comes along you harrass the bejesus out of me until I disappear, due to the fact that you don't agree with me.

I've repeatedly asked you to leave me alone and do your own thing, but for some completely insane reason you are totally incapable of doing so...my comments must be your heroin. It is very sad, addict.

Seriously, everyone this really is my last post.

Once again I apologize to the other sane members of this board for my inability to be the bigger person and ignore this idiot. I tried and failed.

Your perspective on the Bush administraition has grown tiresome.

It is true that your postings irritate me. That is why I respond. Your continual rants about Bush are exhausting.

I am under the impression that a person can respond to any and all posts.

You think in simplistic terms. Simplistic enough so they are irritating. Your Bush agenda is insulting.

I do not know how hard your head is but please think about turning off the Bush agenda BS. Please give it a rest. The MB will thank you.

Feel free to take a step back from political bantering, but there is no reason to leave the board completely. Contributions on the main board should be kept separate from feelings in here.

Its one of the reasons we have a separate political forum, so that those who want to ignore politics on a primarily football-related board can.

My issue had nothing to do with politics, it had to do with another member going out of his way to harrass me. Feel free to take a look around if you can't see what I mean.

I can talk politics all day long, but when someone posts things like: "Yawn..." or "Looks like no takers too bad" it is insulting and extremely aggravating. This has been going on for a while now.

But look, I'm tired of talking about it, and I don't want to be lumped in with him, as some immature idiot who just wants to trade meaningless jabs back and forth. This was what happened before. I put (said member) on ignore thinking that he wouldn't bother making his stupid comments if he knew I wasn't reading them. Apparently that didn't work. So I've accepted the fact that I'm just going to have to deal with him much like an annoying fly.

I just wanted to set the record straight that I want to move away from this issue and that it has absolutely nothing to do with politics and/or my ability to debate politics.

People like yourself who only think about themselves have no problem bringing up topics that nobody cares about.

If people don't care they won't post and the thread will die. I think what bothers you is that people do contribute in my threads, and they are interested in the things I write, regardless of whether or not they agree. Most in here are mature enough to have an adult conversation.

The truth is that you are like a dagger that is driving this MB into a black or white spectrum. You are splitting this MB into one catagory or another. People who only think about themselves do that.

You are more then welcome to contribute (thoughtfully) to anything that I post. What I don't appreciate is your personal attacks that have nothing to do with the issue. Again a sign of your immaturity.

I understand Spiderman, and I for one do not associate everything I see from you with Ballbustah.

Ballbustah, the potential divisiveness of political talk is exactly the reason why its a separate forum. It would probably do much more harm if all this took place in the main forum....unless you think that political talk should be banned altogether?

That's not a road I would enjoy going down, limiting what members can talk about. That is a lot of the problem with the NST forum of KFFL in my opinion.

The following is a general opinion, not meant for any specific poster:

Seems to me if you don't care about what someone is posting, its less divisive to ignore it than attack the poster, but I have a very difficult time understanding why people choose to pigeon-hole themselves on one side or the other and resorting to name calling when someone doesn't agree with you.

It's pretty fair to say the you guys don't see eye to eye - I try to stay out of the 'discussions' that you two have. But they don't bother me too much - I've seen much worse on message boards, that's for sure.

I think it's basically just a matter of 'how long can you two put up with each other'. It's my experience with message boards that if you both end up staying around and manage not to kill each other, you'll end up in some kind of common ground of disagreement (I know - amazing as that sounds).

Stranger things have happened. Plus - it IS 4 years from the next presidential election, so things are bound to quiet down in this forum.

Unless W. gets a hummer in the Oval Office, that is. I have my doubts that will happen though.....

72 percent who cast votes for George W. Bush, according to a University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) and Knowledge Networks poll, believe that Iraq (news - web sites) had weapons of mass destruction or active WMD programs. 75 percent think that a Saddam-Al Qaeda link has been proven, and 20 percent say Saddam ordered 9/11. When Pat Tilman died, Ted Rall wrote a calumn and called Tilman and "idiot". I believe he was a bit more descriptive but I don't want to misquote him. He made reference to Tilman thinking he was "rambo".

Ted Rall is just like every other sore loser, he's just being a complete a$$hole.

I didn't vote for George Bush because I felt that his mistakes in Iraq were so aggregious that he did not deserve a second term. I didn't vote for John Kerry because I felt he was not even close to a legitimate presidential candidate. Say what you will about Bush (and most of you have), but he does not have the luxury of hindsight and sticks by his decisions, no matter how wrong they were. John Kerry doesn't stick by anything he does, he just wants to be president because hey...........that's pretty cool.

What disturbs me is that this attitude was coming from the mouths of my friends, whom I have a great deal of respect for, to say I was shocked at what I was hearing would be an understatement. I don't remember any of them saying that Tilman wanted to be Rambo, but maybe they were behind my back. I hope not.
