Anyone watch it?
I gotta say, and I am an independent that does not care for Kerry or Bush, that of the four candidates, Dick Cheney appears the most presidential to me.
Edwards was charming and has nice hair and all, but I thought Cheney wiped the floor with him, all the while coming across as a very reasonable moderate. (whether he actually IS or not is a different debate).
It appears to me that the Republican ticket is backwards and if something were to happen to the president, I would be infinitely more comfortable with Cheney than with Edwards.

Yeah, I watched it.
What I saw was two attack dogs constantly chastising each other and repeating old, tired campaign slogans. Cheney is definitely more presidential than Bush. But that doesn't surprise me since I believe that Cheney is actually the decision maker in this administration.
My gut reaction was a draw. Each got in jabs and took blows. Interestingly, a nation poll of undecided voters on this morning's news gave the nod to Edwards, 41%-28% with 31% calling it a draw. That surprised me.
I think one of the problems that the Bush campaign is having is the repeated reliance on the "flip-flop" label. I truly believe that people are getting tired of it. They want the campaign to move forward and start telling them what they'll do, not what the other's will not do.
The next two debates will, IMO, decide the election. Bush is on the defensive right now and needs to stop the bleeding.
One thing I feel pretty confident in saying as that, come election morning, we still won't know which way the election will go. It's going to be a long night.

I watched it too and agree with Bideau that they were like a couple of attack dogs - often not responding to either the question, or what the other person said. It was almost like if they didn't acknowledge certain points that the other person said, it would just go away (which surprisingly worked in some cases).
There were a couple of times that Cheney said some things that made Edwards look like he was going to lose his lunch. One was when he pointed out the tax loophole that Edwards used when he was an attorney (I don't remember what the other one was).
Of the two, Edwards looked out of his element more times than Cheney - but his answers weren't bad overall.
I give this debate to Cheney by a nose. I was surprised that a majority of people thought that Edwards won when I watched the news this morning.
This could definately come down to the last two Presidential debates, though if the polls are still this close come election day, I think GW has the advantage.

My biggest thought was that I understood how Edwards made a whole lot of money as a defense attorney.

My thoughts exactly. I think he'd make a great president.

Cheney already is the President. He's very good at not moving his lips when he makes Bush talk :D
