Baseball is getting to be such a joke without a cap.

Berkman, who was 1-for-8 in the series, said he told close friend Andy Pettitte, "Several times over the last day and a half, I was about to burst into tears."

The comment deserves some context.

"I’m thrilled to be here. It’s not that," he said. "It’s just when you spend that much of your career with one organization and think about all the people that you meet over there ... it can fluster you a little bit. I’m sure in a couple weeks from now, it’s not even going to be a big deal, but at first there’s a lot of emotion. I’m dealing with it and I think it will be great. I wouldn’t change it, but it’s been a tough couple of days emotionally.

So you're telling me, that after how ever many years you have been with your company, that if you were suddenly transferred halfway across the country and had no chance to say goodbye to your friends that you've made over the last decade or so, that you wouldn't get at least a little emotional?

Let's just hope his physical transformation into a slightly LESS mobile Rob Deer is accelerated by this move.

Berkman is awful, not really a big deal in my eyes

Posted via Mobile DeviceI'm quite confident that I wouldn't be on the verge of bursting into phucking tears over a day after the trade. Please.

I tried really hard to be concerned about this but failed. I would have been a lot more concerned if they had managed to add a front line starting pitcher. As it stands, rather then running Cliff Lee, Dan Haren, or Roy Oswalt out against Jon Lester or Clay Buchholz or Matt Garza or David Price in a big game in September, it'll be Burnett or Mitre or Vazquez. Not a good situation for them.

Sadly, their concern will be Tampa, twatty fans and all. The Sox are about done.
