I loved watching him play growing up. A shame for all the injuries. One of the guys I would be absolutely stunned if he was juicing.

Kid Griffey was one helluva player in his prime. Absolutely beautiful swing & he could really get it in the outfield. The play he made as a youngster in Yankee Stadium was amazing & I will remember that smile of a little leauger on his face when he made it.

He did it the right way. His numbers will never be questioned. See you in the HOF Kid.

He was one of the reasons I became a CF'er.

Amazing player. It's a shame he was injured so much when he joined the Reds.

heard on the radio that the only proof needed to KNOW that Jr didn't cheat was he got old when ball players typically get old

The Kid

Thanks for the highlight reels, the backwards cap, a stroke that could cut glass and the ear-to-ear grin. Talk about playing the game the right way, always.

Alas, it was time.

My favorite non-Boston athlete of all-time.

And the one last hope for a guy in the last 20 years who did it the right way. Unfortunately, no one wants to settle for "just being Ken Griffey, Jr."

Sad. I wish him all the best in retirement.

There are only 2 jerseys I ever owned that were non-Boston players. Jerry Rice and Jr.'s.

He had the sweetest swing eva.

Buster Olney, as usual, said something really stupid this morning on Mike and Mike-

"even as great a player as he was, he wasn't the greatest player of his era. When you look at the numbers, it was Barry Bonds"

as I told O.Z.O. Jr...when they were both in their prime...NOBODY would have taken Bonds over Griffey.

Buster Olney has been a steroids sympathizer from day 1. Doesn't seem to phase him in the least.

Griffey didn't really retire from baseball. It was all a misunderstanding. He simply said he was going to retire. What he meant was he was going to retire for the day and went to sleep down in the clubhouse. :p

It really is too bad he was so injury prone. He had a pretty damn good career as it is. Without missing all the games he did and actually playing at 100% more often just imagine the career he would have had.
