At age 23, if he wins in Rome against Ferrer (where he should be a comfortable favorite)
How ridiculous is that? If this kid can learn (and it seems he can) to take care of himself and not play every single clay court match of the season, there's no limit to how crazy a record he'll set in 4-5 years. Well, he'll set it sooner, but you know..

Nadal is a treat watch for me. I was a fan of Ferrer for the longest time and still am but to
watch Nadal play it just pure joy. Sometime about this kid just says yes. The fact he is 23
is wild considering what he has accomplished.

Not to take anything away from Nadal who is an amazing player but the masters record doesn't mean much considering it's a relatively new format and was founded in 1990 so most of the past greats never even had a chance at it. Also i think the way there set up are absolutely horrible they have 3 clay court masters 4 hardcourt ones and 2 indoor carpet, yet not a single grass one. As for Nadal it's good to see him do well again after struggling for the past year however i don't think his knees will ever be fully healthy again even in monte carlo he had to take injections to help him ease the pain.

Alright, so the masters format is relatively new. In my mind it doesn't take away how impressive it is to win 17 of them when you're 23 years old.
I am no fan of Nadal's at all, but I think it's hard not to see what a beast he is on clay. Probably the best that's ever played that surface? Maybe, maybe not, but at least he's gotta be up there with Bjorn and Lendl. I don't think there's been anyone as dominant since 1990.

Chalk up another one for Nadal. I was hoping Fed would take it, but Nadal is pretty invincible on clay this year.
