I feel bad for Sox Planet. That places is now dead forum walking.

It already WAS Dead Forum Walking, wasn't it?

Not having a 'Other Sports' forum isn't going to be any different from what was being discussed in the Three Ring Circus before, it'll just be in a different place.

Yeah but this is the final nail in the coffin. The only thing that kept that place afloat were the couple of us that tried to keep RedSox stuff out of the main forum, per the requests of many PP posters. Now that PP has an out of the way spot to stash the Sox stuff, Sox Planet is not only not well trafficked, its completely unnecessary. Hopefully we can entice the few regulars over there, over here.

Mind you im not complaining. Just making an observation. Having a Sox subforum has been necessary here for a long time IMO.

The Sox are playing terrible right now, and I don't think that will last. Sox Planet will get more traffic as soon as they stop sucking.

And taking 2 of 3 from Baltimore doesn't count. They did everything they could to hand the Red Sox a sweep this weekend.

There is only one answer to that that ever made any sense to me: Postcount.

If the Sox Planet database could have been combined with the PP one, and posters had gotten "credit" for their posts at SP, it would have gotten A LOT more traffic.

Hell, we can change post count with the push of a button. You want 50,000 posts? We can make it happen in about 3 seconds.

No no your missing the point. Posters want their posts at Sox Planet to count on their PP post count. Since they dont, people wont post there.

It was always chicken-egg. Whenever I posted over there, it was like talking to myself. I know if more people tried, it would have taken off (but for the post count possibility).

funny but now that the forum is here on the big board, it is that one extra click people refused to make previously

and SC while post count was a big reason for some there were others, like DS, who I feel it was the time before replies. Granted if they had continued it would have grown, especially after UT did make it a 1 click and in subforum.

Hey, I went over there from time to time. Honestly, and maybe this is the "my wife is a graphic designer" part of me coming out here, I think it was the red background. Hard to look at for any length of time. For no viable reason at all, I found myself not going there all that often, and even when I did, I didn't stay long. Also the rep feature sucked, and it got frustrating reading a funny post, trying the rep the person, and having to search out other worthy posts by one of the other 3 regular posters just to be able to give someone an "attaboy" for what they did. :shrug:

The Sox pen continues to be their biggest problem. It's not offense, defense or starting pitching (though I am now officially worried about Beckett).

Joolz, I will be over at Sox planet and I will still support those who are there if that is their decision to stay. I understand their reasons for not wanting to be here in the past, as new posters here many times they felt attacked when posting on this message board. It was the common theme among the people who preferred Sox planet - SP was more friendly, less offensive, more open to debate than this forum and I have to agree, the only issue there was NEM and that was about a year after he was staying within the rules - other than that it self-policed like this place used to be when it was a small forum of die-hard fans.

My last word on this is that the fact that it was one click away was irrelevant. Chicken and egg, but without people to talk to and give and take, it could be no clicks away and it wouldn't matter. I'd always prefer more interaction than less, and those with their panties in a bunch should have just stayed out of baseball threads than be douchey about it.

It's too bad that new members felt attacked. I never appreciated that problem.

I hope that the same thing will not happen in this sub forum and that sports talk will be open and enjoyable for all.

I expressed my view respectfully. I didn't think that all these changes meant that posters couldn't express contrary views to the moderators on topics regarding this forum or Sox Planet.

I also think that what you wrote above "JHC this is pathetic" is exactly contrary to what you and Anni and the rest of the mods are trying to achieve right now. You guys preach civility and then you write that.

In short, I think we should be able to disagree if we do it respectfully, what I wrote was respectful, what you wrote was not and that you are dead wrong in your approach to me here, especially because you are a mod.
