Numbers 1 and 2 are Ben Linus and John Locke in some order. Any claim to the contrary is crazy talk.

I can agree with Des in the top ten though. He's always good, doesn't get enough screen time as far as I'm concerned.

Oh man I envy that. I got into it midway through season 2 and it was so great being able to watch all the first 30 episodes or so back to back. Since then I've been watching them as they air, and it's really hard to wait between weeks. I think the show is better when you can just plow through it... once it's all done I may have to have a Lost marathon at my house to get the best possible experience. You forget so many little things watching it in network TV time.

Linus is far and away #1. Locke is probably the strongest candidate for #2. You could make a case for any of the following for 3-5:
Desmond
Sawyer
Sayid
Jack
Juliet (I know, I know)
Kate
Hurley
maybe Faraday.

That's basically your top 10 in some order.

I miss the hell out of Charlie and Eko, though - my favorites. Eko absolutely ate up the screen throughout his time.

My favorite characters were those 2, plus Linus, Desmond, Sayid, and Claire.

I don't think the vision of the show has been consistent, and I don't believe the bogus claims that the end and bulk of the story has been known from the start. It's been ad hoced pretty well, though, and it's an interesting way to learn a little something from time to time.

I won't be missing any episodes, that's for sure.

Yeah, I have no idea how everyone waited so long between seasons. I only have like 5 more episodes in the last season and I am caught up. I did watch the season finale to season 5 before I watched it all so I spoiled it for myself just a tad, but the only thing I really remember is that Locke was alive.ROFL

Guys, you can just go to lostpedia to answer all the questions you might have. No biggie to jog the memory.

Or, hypothetically, one might pirate the crap out of all 5 seasons. As an attorney (still I guess), I strongly advise against doing this, in spite of the convenience, minuscule likelihood of prosecution, and fantastic portable format. It's wrong.

Anyway, they've pretty clearly tied this all into Egyptian mythology, what with the statue, the Osiris myth, etc. I think it was OPT that had a great post on this in the Official Lost thread at the end of last season.

You could make a case for any of the following for 3-5:

Juliet (I know, I know)

Juliet is awesome. They didn't know what to do with her after her arc basically ended at the conclusion of season 4 - that's my only regret about her time on the show. But she was such a fascinating character. She might be my third favorite.

Oh and I'm a huge Eko fan too. A real shame that he wanted off the show.

I don't think the vision of the show has been consistent, and I don't believe the bogus claims that the end and bulk of the story has been known from the start.

I won't know what to think about that until the show wraps. What I've heard is that the writers had only a vague idea where they were going when they did the pilot; then they had some meetings as they were writing season 1 and planned an overall storyline, plus some kind of ending that included apparently a specific final scene (or so Matthew Fox has said, and Lindelof has alluded to). I'm not sure how much I buy into it myself, but then again one of my favorite shows ever (Twin Peaks) was basically made up as they went along, so I guess I don't really care. It's all about how you stick the landing, not whether or not the landing was improvised. It's just a greater degree of difficulty to do it on the fly and make it seem like it COULD HAVE BEEN planned all along, ya know?

Anyway their finales so far have all been excellent, so I have high hopes for the series conclusion living up to their standards thus far.

Yeah, I have no idea how everyone waited so long between seasons.

It is brutal, absolutely brutal. I think this has been the longest hiatus - from May to February. And hardly a three day span has gone by the entire time without me thinking about the show at least a little bit. I need this thing to wrap up so I can get back to my rigorous schedule of football, spaghetti-Os, and internet porn.

Most interesting characters for me:

Locke
Desmond
Sayid
Faraday
Sawyer
Juliet (I starting out hating her, but she improved a lot)
Ben Linus - he wasn't interesting to me until last season
Eko - would have been higher on the list if he stayed around longer
Miles
