I’ve been thinking about getting a few since it is so hard for myself to fix the time on my digital clocks, and with 5 power outages in the last 2 weeks :banghead::banghead: it just makes sense.

So have any of you ever bought this kind of high tech gadget?

I had a wrist watch that was atomic. And it was dead on to the broadcast time clock at work. The only reason i don't have one now is because i had two and they both broke. Stupid Timex watches are junk.

See Better at Night

This clock keeps precise time and projects the time in large easy-to-read numbers onto ceilings or walls. The projection feature offers a unique way to read time in lowlight conditions by casting soft glowing red numbers on a wall, ceiling, or just about any flat surface. The self-setting Atomic clock means you’ll always have precise time and never need to adjust the clock for Daylight Saving Time.

Projects the time and alarm status on any flat surface for easy viewing in lowlight conditions Automatically sets itself to the US Atomic clock for precise time and adjusts for Daylight Saving Time Illuminated with green LED backlight Features green LED light effect on the base of the clock Projected image can be flipped 180° and focused for added convenience 12-hour clock and month/day calendar Dual crescendo alarm with 8-minute snooze function 3V AC adapter included for continuous projection Two AA batteries (included) Dimensions: 3.5 W x 3.5 H x 2.5 D inches

I’m looking into getting 2 of these:thumb:

You better hope they have a version that operates in milliseconds, then.

Be aware... if your in the wrong location, the signal is to weak for the unit to function correctly. It drove me crazy here in Santa Barbara. It would reset itself several times a day and go back and forth on Daylight Savings/ No Daylight Savings.

I finally replaced the movement with a common digital movement and all is Well.

We got one as a gift several years ago. It works.

FWIW, it's just a regular digital clock with a radio receiver to receive signals from the Gov't atomic clock and keep itself in sync with that signal.

We had them at school. I thought it was a stupid, typical waste of taxpayer money to bailout teachers who were too lazy to reset the clocks for daylight savings...

I have a sharper image one, and one on my weather station, both work well, though sometimes it takes a few days for it to update or catch a signal, but overall, they seem to work pretty well.

A cheaper option is to get any of the various programs that set your PC clock.

I use NISTime (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23895-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html).

You can set it up to manually adjust or automatically adjust.

This will let you have one clock "accurate" in the house and you can then set the others based on it.

Of course, cell phones have their clock set by the network as well, so that's another device that is correct.

I thought about making one, but gave up. The U-235 was too hard to get. Plus I didn't like the idea of my gender-specific parts lighting my way to the bathroom at night. :insane:

I have a JVC VCR with the automatic clock setting but here in Saugus we don't get good reception so it works on an occasional basis. Reception is something that needs to be considered as someone suggested before.:)
