I know there's other threads on the new option, but I got a couple of nuggets from the last couple of days listening. Scanning the old threads it just didn't seem relevant to toss stuff out of the blue out there so I figured I'd create a new thread for just that purpose.

First, funny story. Zolak talked of his "courting" by the Pats coming out of college. Dinner at Legal. And put up at the End Zone!ROFLROFLROFL
Said he had the "suite" above the entrance. When he got in it the outdoor hot-tub was in the middle of his room.ROFL Anyhow, he goes on about this story of Todd Collins, aka "Swamp Chicken". The guy refused to rent a local area house. Struck a deal with the proprietors of the End Zone and lived in the suite Zolak mentioned for 2 freakin' years!ROFLROFLROFL Had Yoo-Hoo and Twinkies under his bed he lived off of and would soak all night long in said hot-tub!ROFL Was a real funny story to listen to.

Second, two nice nuggets from Mike Lombardi today. Called some teams method of drafting and picking "Battleship Football", where a team just blindly picks players from the draft in hopes of landing a fit for their system. It was comical to hear how he put it.

Lombardi also referred to his and everyone he was with time in Oakland as Shawshank Redemption, and they were all Andy, bound to get out sooner or later!ROFLROFLROFL Hilarious mocking a franchise openly like that!

Friday Felger and Maz were arguing over the Colts game.

Maz was adamant Maroney's fumble didn't affect the game because the Pat's scored on their next possesion.:banghead:

Well, if Maroney hadn't fumbled they would have had 2 TD's.:banghead:

I wrote in on Instant Feedback and Felger read it verbatim:

Tony, you're an idiot!
Maroney's fumble doesn't affect any subsequent play later in the game.
Had he scored we would have had 7 more points in a game we lost by 1.
Moron!

Excellent! A couple of weeks I ago I sent an instant feedback saying Jerry Thornton was awesome....they ought to consider replacing Massarotti with him.

Yup. I did the same, though it was after Felger's show, not realizing they read their responses on the show time to time.

I PM'd Jerry, telling him he and Butch Sterns would make a good radio pairing gig now that Butch has had the rug pulled out from under him and can no longer spend Fox broadcasts staring at Maria's impeccable hiney!

Just out of curiosity, how do you KNOW we would of had 2 TD's if he didn't fumble?

This is true. The fumble led to the field position that led to the punt that led to the field position that led to the next score. I think that plays are not independent of one another and it's difficult to predict what may have happened in any game had something (not have) happened. Like some Back to the Future shit. But the premise of the argument I understand. It's possible the Pats could've scored, forced Indy to punt and then scored again.

On a sidenote, I hate fans who whine about TDs that are called back on the same drive that a team subsequently scores on. I remember a conversation with a dude a couple years ago about a Michigan game we lost. A TD was scored, called back, and we scored 2 plays later. He thought we would've won, because "the refs cost us 7 points." Couldn't understand because "we would've scored that TD, too, because we DID!" :banghead:

IMO the fumble led to a touchback, ball at the 20.

Had Maroney scored, Ghost's kick more than likely in a dome would have been a touchback. Ball at 20. Same sitch.

Last Monday night, just after the Colts/Pats game ended, Gary Tanguay was going balistic for the first hour of the postgame show on 98.5. Friggin aggrevating. I like him, always have. But he was whining and whining and whining.

I'll have to listen to something else after the game. I like to listen to Gil and Gino during the game, though.

Gil and Gino are the best ever.

Steve1
11-22-2009, 01:59 PM
Gil and Gino are like comfort food....meatloaf with gravy and mashed potatoes. You really can't go wrong.

Gil does a little, and I stress little, of that thing Joe Castiglione does...when things aren't looking right for the Pats on a particular day, you can tell by his tone of voice how the team's doing. Not as much as with Castiglione, but Gil does give little sarcastic remarks during an especially tough game.

Gino is funny....he tries to break things down for the listener, but it's taking him longer to get his words and thoughts out. But really, Gino has been through it all as a player, and as a coach. What must he have felt, when the Pats finally won the Superbowl?

Those guys are like comfort food.

Go Patriots!

Why does the fact that if Maroney punches it in instead of fumble have a bearing on any other play?

The Colts started the subsequent drive at their 20, same place they'd likely start had Ghost kicked off after a score, and then they punt and Welker returns it back.

Because its no guarantee everything would of happened exactly the same if Maroney hadn't fumbled.
