This is the thread where you post pictures that speak volumes by themselves. Let me start with one that has been hanging in my house for the last 10 years-

Over here, we have one picture from the April 25th, 1974 revolution that overthrew the dictatorship in power. It pretty much depicts how the whole thing was practically bloodless(a couple of people were killed when shots were fired from the then HQ of the secret police. To this date, the only registered casualties of the revolution).

Afghan Girl - Just her facial expression in conjunction with her eyes is just fascinating.
The Burning Monk - I first saw this in Life magazine and found out it was in protest of the Vietnam War. He set himself on fire, but never moved or cried out in pain.

She remembers the moment. The photographer took her picture. She remembers her anger. The man was a stranger. She had never been photographed before. Until they met again 17 years later, she had not been photographed since.

Fire on Marlborough Street - This was in the old Boston-American and the girl at the bottom of the picture died, but the young girl above survived. Why is this memorable, I graduated high school that year and was in Boston on that day hanging out with friends and we drove by the scene.

The Power of One - These photos shows to me what one person can do. The woman is an Isreali settler fighting the Isreali army trying to remove her from the West Bank. I love politics and public service and have involved since I was 18. Each time I see this photo and the one of Tiananmen Square, it just reinforces my resolve to make my commuinty a better place to live.
Lunch atop a skyscraper - So whimsical, but it shows confidence.
Conrad Schumann - I like this one as it represent one thing - "Freedom"
Ground Zero Spirit - 'nuff said.

Natives are very good with heights, for some reason.
I think the one I recently nabbed for an avatar is also pretty poignant, when they first got to the moon and turned around and saw the earthrise.

Kevin Carter took that picture and others like it. He was so haunted by what he saw, it ruined his life. He became an alcoholic and drug abuser and eventually committed suicide. It's a sad commentary on someone with such striking work.

My lady doesn't let me go up on the roof to clean gutters and stuff anymore, cuz I'd be running around up there barefoot, or standing on one foot on the very highest peak of the roof, and she'd be down on the lawn angry, and flipping me off, for making her fear for my safety... Good times :thumb:

Destruction of the Berlin Wall
http://www.charleslipson.com/Images/Breaking-down-Berlin-Wall-1989.jpg
I have a small piece of it somewhere, about the size of a teacup saucer. It's got paint on one side so I can only assume it was from the West Berlin side. When the wall came down, some philanthropist in Syracuse bought an entire slab of wall (probably around 8 foot by 4 foot or something) and donated it to the science museum. They used to keep it out back, in a chain-link fenced-in area, but no one even knew what it was 'cause they didn't have any signs on it. Anyway, they also had a box of "rubble" (bits and pieces off the edge) so I snagged one.
