I have been messing around with my photo processing software for the last few weeks trying to get more fluent at it and began practicing on some photos involving Patriot players of the past and present.
I didn't think they really belonged in the photo thread so have decided to start a new thread to share them.
Maybe it's a bit of a stretch to call it "art". I never claimed to know anything about the subject, but I know what I like.
The first one I'll call The leap

Good Idea Hawg, Here's one of Troy Brown using the sphere tool.

Tiger, What are you using for editing?
Looks like your sphere tool is superior to mine. Every one I tried no matter how I tweaked it came out completely undiscernable.
I'm almost at the point where I need more toys.
I also can't figure out the picture size thing. Some of these looked a lot better at a larger size but what I posted is about the maximum allowable size. Some of the pics on the Girlie Pic Thread are huge and at an apparently high resolution and I'm not savvy enough to understand the difference.

I'm using MGI PhotoSuite 8.1, it came with my dad's digital camcorder. I've been using PhotoSuites III and IV before that but this one is better. I didn't even have to tweek the sphere one (although I could have), but I did have to resize it, It was a huge pic.
I don't know how they got those pics so big (on that thread) I can't do it here. I do know I save my pics at max resolution, maybe that has something to do with it.

Hawg, where'd you get those old Pat's pics, on the net? I'd like to download some of Grogan ,Tippett, Morgan, (Hawg) Hannah (If you remember, I wanted to name my last daughter after, and lost that battle), among others.

Go to Patriots.com and from the main page find a box about half way down on the right hand side and do a media search for "image". Hit the "go" button and it brings you to a page that has a scrollbar with a ton of Patriots past and present.
Then click on the name you want and the go button again and it brings up a menu of pics. If you want to get a better view of a pic click on it after it comes up and it will open a larger version in a seperate window.
I just scratched the surface with the few I did. there must be hundreds of these things.
Tippett you say?

Hey Mrs. B,
Looks like you started the pic editing thing. Not bad. I remember that you asked me for advice on a previous thread.
So what'd you get and how's the learning curve going?

Hawg,
I'm just still using the MGI Photosuite that came with my scanner. It's a basic program which I've been using all along. Doing whole picture effects is easy as it's just a matter of one click.... I haven't tried creating my own masterpieces yet (ie... our Beefcake Poster boy...and Hawg in a drink...lol) so I haven't had a chance to try actually "editing" my pics.
I also have Paint Shop Pro (Jacs) that came with my new Dell computer but honestly, it's probably expired by now. When I have time I'd like to play around with making my own stuff... gifs for my website, headers and such but I know that the MGI program doesn't do it...not sure about the PSP....(someone made some for me when I first started my website... and was as green as all get out. Speaking of which, I'll be a year old on the 21st of this month!!)

Happy anniversary! It's a fine site and I just saw it mentioned in the BroadSide column of Pats PFW. Congratulations. Seriously, I thought you were a sophisticated webbie with some of the stuff you do over there.
As far as mastering the tools it's just time and motivation and I think it's a useful skill, especially for somebody like yourself. Sometimes you just have to dive in.
And I won't even ask what that cryptic "Hawg in a drink" reference was referring to. :D
p.s. loved the pigskin pic. nice job.

I vaguely remember a green drink on some thread... and I thought it was you in that pic...??? NO??? Isn't the face in the glass, or is perhaps it's coming to me now, someone is drinking from a straw?... Don't mind me! I'm working on 2 1/2 hours sleep today (thanks to my Sox!) :banghead:
I seem to recall that pic popping up periodically in threads this past year...

Nah... just a rookie with "on the job training"! I actually jumped in with both feet knowing absolutely nothing, nothing, nothing.
It helps when the subject matter is so motivating and I'm such an anal type that I was determined to make a go of it.. Of course, I prefer to refer to it as Full Tilt Full Time... (Many late nights last fall getting it up and running that's for sure!)
I'm still learning and loving it... I guess it's just natural that I chose teaching as my profession... :D
I will experiment a bit... in my spare time! Right now, I'm still scanning pics that Al took at TC on his 35mm camera. I've been doing a few each night.

Sorry, I thought that was you that replied to my question on the old pics. Since I couldn't possibly be drunk (I don't drink) and I don't do drugs, I'll have to chalk that oversight to lack of sleep from a teething baby:)

Thanks for the kind words. I taught myself Photoshop last year. I wish I could have taken some classes, so use them well. My only advice is to play around, using trial & error as much as you can. You'll be great in no time. :toast:

Thanks for the encouragement... I taught myself Frontpage as I put up my website but didn't really have much time to mess around with Photoshop... so, taking the class forces me to sit down and do it. Luckily, the teacher allows you to do anything you want for projects so I was able to make business cards, web banners and wallpaper for my site. Works out good... and I can actually make something useful.

The National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War (of 1941-1945) is a memorial complex commemorating the German-Soviet War located in the southern outskirts of the Pechersk district of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, on the picturesque hills on the right-bank of the Dnieper River. The museum has moved two times before ending up in the current location where it was ceremonially opened on May 9 (the Victory Day), 1981, by then Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev. On June 21, 1996, the museum was accorded its current status of the National Museum by the special decree signed by Leonid Kuchma, then the President of Ukraine.
