Marc Edwards signs with the Jaguars

The Pats lost Edwards to the Jags. (They also signed Hugh Douglas.) Make that one more position that needs to be addressed.

I liked Edwards a great deal, as a player. It is pretty evident that the Patriots want something from a FB that Edwards couldn't provide. They desire a guy that can slip out of the backfield, and that has sound receiving abilities. Blocking does mot seem to be that high of a priority.

Given that this is what they are after, I am hoping that they will be able to sign Cecil Martin at some point. He fits the mold of a good pass catching FB. If they can't do this then maybe Patrick Pass or Fred Baxter could fill the role tempoarily while a draft pick, like say Andrew Pinnock, is brought along with an eye for being the starter next season.

I think they may decide to draft a fullback to be the starter, especially if they are able to get another draft pick this year for tebucky jones.
