I don't know how many of you are familiar with this site but it is an excellent tool, particularly for out-of-towners who want to keep up with the Boston sports scene or anyone else too cheap to pony up half a buck for a newspaper.
www.bostonmedia.blogspot.com
I just checked it out this morning for the first time and was impressed with how comprehensive it is. Add this to your favorites list and you will probably use it often as a reference tool. Well worth checking out.
I was looking for a transcript of the latest Carl Everett fiasco in which he flipped out at yet another reporter and couldn't find it in Google. I thought you could find anything in Google. Anyway I went to this site and lo and behold there it was. For those that are curious for that article check this link:

Man, I missed that story! Classic Carl. I really enjoyed sitting in the homerun porch at the Ballpark here in Arlington booing as loud as possible at Everret. Apparently, I'll have to boo louder this year because he's moving to CF.

Hell, he might be a little on the flaky side, but he might have a point about the moon landing and the dinosaurs. An interesting perspective on life.
If I didn't see it then it never happened.
What a waste of talent that guy is. I couldn't believe how good he was and how cheap we got him and then the house of cards came tumbling down. If it looks too good to be true.....
Hawg,
Thanks for the link. That is a GREAT site!
I have to admit my baseball knowledge has dropped off the lately along with my interest. I didn't follow him much when he was with Boston and being so far away I missed most if not all of the drama.
Indirectly, the article raises some interesting points about athletes and the media. There are two sides to every story. Sure the athlete might be major @ss but the reporter went there not for a story but to bait him. As a celebrity they are constantly being subjected to requests for interviews and harassed by reporters looking for a sound byte.
Have you heard of the Dallas Observer?
If you want to know what's happening in Dallas, keep your eye on the Observer. Over the past eighteen years, the Dallas Observer has grown from a small weekly to a major force in this city, where the paper is known for its hard-edged investigative stories about government, politics and business, as well as its pointed, provocative coverage of sports, music and the arts. In recent years, the Observer has collected numerous journalism awards, including the Missouri Lifestyle Journalism Award for general excellence, which lauded the paper for the compelling package it puts out each week. And Dallas readers agree: Every Wednesday, 110,000 copies land on newsstands around the city--and disappear within hours.
Missouri Lifestyle Award? That is the only award worth mentioning?. I don't think if I were an athlete I would give an interview to anyone holding a tape recorder. Why should they? I would be selective and deal only with the ones that I respected.
I'm not making excuses for his behavior. The guy might be a complete jerk. I just don't think much for reporters either. Did he go up to him and ask him anything thought-provoking or merely try to provoke him?

Point well taken. I don't think these guys need to give their entire lives or privacy over to anybody. Everett is a different story altogether. He regularly went on locker room tirades no matter how delicately phrased a question may have been. I'm talking king-hell Hunter Thompsonesque freak outs.
The guy has some anger management problems.
