The Cowboys on Tuesday signed free agent fullback Richie Anderson to a three-year, $3.9 million contract, including an $800,000 signing bonus.
In Anderson, the Cowboys add a versatile, veteran who played under Cowboys coach Bill Parcells and offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon while all were with the New York Jets. Anderson, 31, will help establish Parcells’ mentality in the locker room in addition to the blocking, receiving and special teams duty he is known for.
Anderson was elected to the 2000 Pro Bowl at fullback after recording a career-high 88 receptions. He chose to sign with Dallas over New England, where he also had an offer to play. Anderson (6-2, 230) is the second former player of Parcells to re-join Parcells in Dallas. Receiver Terry Glenn, who played for Parcells in New England, is the other. Anderson is a formidable blocker who helped clear the way for five straight 1,000-yard seasons by running back Curtis Martin as a Jet.
All 10 of Anderson’s NFL seasons came with the Jets. He has averaged only 19 carries a season over his NFL career. But he is a potent receiver, averaging 30 catches per year, including an average of 51 receptions per season over the last four years.

It sounds like the Pats gave up on Konrad. I'm hoping there's still an outside chance.
Konrad signed on for 4 more years with Miami......
Why that dirty bastard. Them's fightin' words (and actions.) Fortunately the AFC East plays the Cowpokes this year -- Jets too. All of the Tuna Bowl's this year should be that much more entertaining already.
He did it. Mutually screwed the Pats and Jets with one stroke of the pen. In a way you have to admire a complete jackass like that. Now the Pats will be pushed by the Jets to sign Edwards, raising his asking price.
Parcells: the gift that keeps on giving. I only hope he is active long enough to give something back to Dallas when all is said and done.

I'm not so sure that bringing in Anderson would have been such a great move. It seems to me that we have plenty of targets in the short passing game. What we didn't have was the ability to protect Brady long enough to complete more medium to long range passes.
I think this team right now needs blocking ability much more than pass catching ability from the fb position.

I would love to see them bring Dan Kreider in...

Ok, that's a good point. With that said where are talks at with Edwards, if they're going on at all? Are the Pats going to sign him or his $$ too big? Seems like the few FB's that were available in FA are getting snatched up pretty quickly.

I would only disagree on one hypothetical point here. If you bring a guy in to the game that is one-dimensional you are telegraphing your intent. That is the reason that the Pats gave up on Rod Rutledge. Every time they brought him in the game teams knew that they were running the ball. If it was Wiggins it was a pass. The fullback position is no different. (I guess we would all like to find a Mike Alstott but....)
However, I think that the Pats may have gone a little pass HAPPY last season. They got rid of Rutledge and they brought in too many TE's that were primarily receivers. Suddenly they couldn't get first downs because they had geared up to pass and everybody knew it. (And the TE's other than Fauria were a bust.)
If you are going to err on one side or the other -- I would rather that they err on the side of the running game. Smashmouth football is where it is at in my opinion. Take that West Coast weak crap out of here. REAL football is when the other team knows you are going to run because you TELL them you are going to run and then you RUN. Then you do it again and you dare them to try and stop you. That's football. However, you have to have the personnel to get it done and the Pats don't have the line for it yet.
