Patriots center Damien Woody was added to the Pro Bowl roster on Monday, replacing Raiders center Barret Robbins. It is Woody's first selection to the celebration of the NFL's best in just his fourth season in the league. Woody will be in reserve in the game, backing up the elected starter, Jets center Kevin Mawae.

Would be good for the snap, but I don't think he would block starting defensive tackles very well ;)

I still don't understand why Woody hasn't mastered the art of the shotgun snap! It seems that he should be able to handle that responsibilty by now.

So. Ummm. Here's a response.

I like Damien Woody. I like Damien Woody a lot. But it seems to me that a Pro Bowl center ought to be able to snap in the shotgun.

Maybe they should just bring Lonnie Paxton in on 3rd and long?

I often have the urge to reply simply out of politeness although some posts just stand on their own and don't require a response. However, it is the rare post that cannot be embellished with tasteless humor.

I hear Barrett Robbins is available. :fire:

He made the Pro Bowl this year but was dropped for (ahem, much clearing of throat which seems popular these days...) "personal" reasons which is the only reason Woody made the squad. He should be available cheap. I am speculating but I wouldn't be surprised to see him cut by his former team. They are cap-impacted and he is not the most popular guy on the team right now.

(Reportedly Robbins is on a suicide watch. All joking aside, I hope he realizes the relative insignificance of the problem relative to his life -- and what could be more curative for a RAIDER than helping New England win another Super Bowl.....Irony cures all.)

Talent wise he is arguably second only to Mawae who is a clear number one in my opinion. Eh, feed him plenty of Prozac and he will be just fine.
