The Patriots are hosting Auburn cornerback Patrick Lee (http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/patrick-lee?id=1730) on a pre-draft visit at Gillette Stadium this week.
At 6-feet, 194 pounds, Lee is considered one of the sturdier corners in this year's class. The Pro Football Weekly draft preview describes him as having a good size-speed ratio, and lists him as the fifth-rated defensive back in the draft.
Lee appears to have some position flexibility and he is considered a strong special teams performer.
NFL teams are allowed up to 30 in-house visits with prospects before the draft. The visits do not include workouts, so they are basically final interviews and medical re-checks.
In some cases, the visits are based on genuine interest, and in other cases they can be a smokescreen. The visits can also confirm concerns a team might have about a player for various reasons, and ultimately lead the team to determine it is not interested.
