Yes, Antoine is out for a few games, hurt his knee in the Philly game during which the Celts were down by 23 at one point and came back to win 100-99. Luckily no torn ligaments of any sort so he sould be back sometime soon.
Their record is 25-18 and currently 4 games behind the New Jersey Nets (I hate Jason Kidd!). JR Bremer and Kedrick Brown have both come out well as of late and if they can continue their play could be a huge spark down the stretch. Especially Brown, he has a great vertical jump. we're talking looking down at the rim type of jump. So definetly something to be excited for...and then Pierce...well...he's just mint and has been playing very well again as of late. Either way, this is definetly a great time to be a New England sports fan.

I'm not a big hoops fan, but I noticed on Sports Center a couple of nights ago that they were giving huge props to Pierce. Apparently he outscored the entire other team (Cleveland?) through the 1st quarter and part way through the 2nd. Wow!

...but is Vin Baker still stinking up the court?
I'm trying to remember who they gave up for Baker (or didn't sign in order to sign Baker), but wasn't it a couple of the guys they brought in at the end of the year last year as the Celtics were making their playoff run?
I can't for the life of me remember their names. But as I recall they were impact players at or near the end of their contract period and the Celts would've had to have resigned them for decent money.
Who WERE they?
I believe it was Kenny Anderson and Joseph Forte (rookie 1st round draft pick) for the Vin Man and Shammond Williams. The story behind the story is that somehow former Celtic's owner Paul "Thanks, Dad" Gaston was the driving force in the trade and that somehow it was going to make his sale of the team more attractive and that Jimmy O'Brien wanted no part of Baker.
Anderson did have by far his best year with the Celts last year but overall was a disappointment and I wasn't sorry to see him go but wish they moved him three years previous.
The whole trade smacks of WTF?
Topping off the whole thing is that absolute laughable play of Vin Baker. He is a clown out there. Awkward, slow, unsure of himself, he misses dunks and commits fouls at a record pace. All this and we are stuck with him at a very high price for the next four years or so and absolutely nobody will touch the guy because of that contract. Kind of like Manny Ramirez in sneakers - we are welded to the guy for a long time. In the NFL you could just cut his ass for non performance and eat a part of the cap money but not the NBA. Another reason why the NFL is the best of the pro leagues.

Celts vs. Rockets tonight...anyone else impressed with Yao? He seems like a pretty cool, funny guy so far. Great skills on the floor. After Friday's loss to the King's and the drubbing they absorbed, I really don't know what to expect from this team anymore!

Went to the the game with my honey last night. Talk about a bummer! Up by 15 then blowing the lead..... Yao was double and triple teamed all night. One thing that struck me about him was how muscular his legs are..... he's no Manute Boll (sp?)
The Asian contingent was out in full force last night and every time he touched the ball, the place erupted! We were treated to the absolute best rendition of The National Anthem that I have EVER heard. It was sung acapella by an Asian group and even put professional singers to shame.

This is another great article from the Boston Sports Guy, Bill Simmons. It's long, but if you've been a Celts fan since you were a kid and were born before, oh--1975 or so, then parts of this story will give you the goosebumps.
