I'm not sure what your thoughts are about the Pats Offensive Strategy and Game Plan. In there first 9 to 10 games, the Pats focused on very quick passes in the first quarter and if necessary the first half of a game. This usually created long drives against the opposing defense, thus tiring them out. You would then see in the 2nd half Brady sitting there with a lot of time to throw bombs if they wanted to or go back to short/med. range passes creating the long drives. They went back to the quick passes in the fourth quarter when they had there last TD drive.
I feel the Offensive strategy changed in the last 6 games of the season going into the playoffs, and that became their achilles heal. Plays came in for deeper pass patterns sprinkled with the short game. Brady started looking for deeper routes to early in a lot of the last 6 games and going into the playoffs. The pressure to get to Brady had more of an opportunity when he was waiting for his receivers to get open.
I feel the Pats offensive philosophy and game plan for the SB did not go with what got them there in the first 10 games. They should have focused on very quick passes in the first half to fatigue the pass rush. That is what they did in the first 10 games of the season. After a half, the defense was exhausted and then you had time to thrown the bombs, run draw plays/screens, etc...
I was very surprised to see the Pats trying throw 2 bombs to Moss before half-time when we were at the 50 yard line and had about 28 secs left. The Pats of old would have played for getting a couple short passes to set-up the field goal before half. It was obvious that the game was going to be tight and every point was going to be crucial.
Let me know your thoughts if you liked the offensive game plan and if you feel we deviated from the last 6 games and going into the playoffs (other than the Steelers game-which they went back to the short game that lead into the longer routes).
