View Full Version : The Official Bill Cowher Shrine
Okay, what were people's thoughts on the Titans-Steelers game. Was that a great game or what? I can only imagine what it would have been like if the Pats were playing in that game.
And what about the triple field goal fiasco? I don't have a lot of respect for Bill Cowher and I thought he showed his usual classless self at the end of that game.
First he calls a time-out moments before the snap and we get the whole premature fireworks show. Then they re-kick and he gets outraged because someone had the NERVE to call a penalty. Then it is kicked again and they try the time-out trick all over again. Finally he runs out on to the field and blames the loss on the referee and publicly does it again in the news conference. Take responsibility and show some class for once. I can't wait for the fine.
I loved the outcome. I thought they were over-rated all season (and last) and yet are the most arrogant team in football. They just don't get it. They seem to have the attitude that football OWES them something.
Here's one of Cowher that could go in the beefcake thread:
This site is hysterical. The Bill Cowher Appearance Improvement Page:

Hard to improve on the original. Here he is shown taking personal responsibility for a loss.
And another. I think in this photo Bill felt that his coaching had once again cost his team. Always the martyr.

It was a great game, great intensity. Unfortunately someone has to lose in a great game such as that. As for Cowher's behavior I think what he did was ludicrous in and of itself. Hell he ran faster to those officials than DeWayne Washington did to make those tackles in the 4th quarter and OT. However, I also think it was wrong of Nedney to say what he did. You can bet he won't be getting the benefit of any judgement calls for awhile. Oh well, now the Steelers can join the Pats in the offseason! And that way we won't have to listen to them go on endlessly about how they went and won the Super Bowl this year...god forbid if that had happened! lol

The Steelers seem to think everything should be handed to them, god forbid should they go out there, bust their a**, and earn it! (sorry, this post was in reply to the pic with Cowher and the refs) For crying out loud, you'd think their team could never do any wrong they way they talk and act!
Bill's softer, human side. Bill said: "It was MY fault that we f-kd this game up. I am after all the HEAD coach."

There are no angels out there. Nedney could have "enhanced" the situation for his team's benefit. No doubt in my mind. However if Cowher got beat at his own game...so be it. Take it like a man. Cowher called time out in the hopes not of icing Nedney -- he called it hoping to make him re-kick and the officials should have exercised their own judgment and ignored the request rather than blow the whistle.
However, to then blame the result on any ONE of those events is a load. A MAN would have stepped up and admitted he got beat at his own game, shaken Fischer's hand and chalked it up to experience. ALL of the events leading up to that moment had bearing on that final situation so there really is no DECIDING event -- ever. The preparation before the game is the coaches responsibility. The game plan, the play calling, everything. No excuse. Yet he has a history of nothing if not making excuses.

That team is a bunch of overblown, overrated smack-mouth jerks. This being said, I think they pretty much take their cues from their coach.
Everyone knows that the Steelers make it to the playoffs virtually every year because they play in the most consistently crappy division in football.
The best thing I can say about Bill Cowher is that I hope he remains the Steelers coach for as long as possible. As long as he does, the Steelers will never win the Superbowl.
Amen. I don't want to see him anywhere BUT Pittsburgh. He will be there downfall. Some of the fans realize that. Some are not as classless as the ones that we have been subjected to over at Patriots.com. However, just imagine if the Pats could look forward to the Cincy and Cleveland games twice a year -- apiece. How "good" would we be?

Very true...the fact he can't stop and shake hands with the opposing team and has to sprint off the field says alot about his true character I guess. Were the owners of that team worth anything, they would discpline him somehow or just finally cut him loose. What a disgrace to the game.
The man, the myth, the chin.
A questionable marketing campaign... Bill also appeared in a series of commercials entitled "Got chin?"
Bill discussing the call with an official.
Bill and his wife enjoying a quite moment away from football.

Look! Mr Happy has changed his tune a bit. Must have been a sizeable fine.
"I saw him (Blum) talking to the umpire, Chad Brown, and I thought there was a timeout, but obviously the game was over at that point,'' Cowher said. "I should never have done what I did.''
Cowher also acknowledged what Titans coach Jeff Fisher said after the game: The Steelers took too long to call the timeout. Several Steelers, notably linebackers Joey Porter and Jason Gildon, were outraged Brown refused to grant the timeout.
"We did not get it called in time,'' Cowher said. "There was a conversation taking place that should not have taken place. But we did not get it called in time.''
In a possible attempt to smooth his relationship with the officials, Cowher said, "I think the officiating is, for the most part, very, very solid. ... I think there has been too much emphasis and publicity being put on the negative part of it.''
