Who do you think are the best past rushers in this draft and who would you take if we decided to pick one at #7?

These four prospects were in the top ten in sacks/game.
Vernon Gholston, Ohio St. & Chris Long, Virginia have the same sacks/game average - take your pick, I'd be very happy with either one.
Anthony Hoke, Cincinnati is just behind them - his weigh-in for the Hula Bowl had him just below the 240 weight minimum I look for in a Linebacker...that said, I really like this kid.
And Bruce Davis, UCLA is just behind Hoke - I looked him up on NFL Draft Countdown, they had him as the #14 DE in this draft with measurables of 6-3, 229, 4.70, which is small & slow. The kid must have killer hands and quicks!

How about Calais Campbell and Derrick Harvey? I see them high up on alot of mock drafts but Hoke and Davis don't seem to be high in the mocks. Why is that? I think I read somewhere that Davis is more of a 4-3 end. Could he adapt to the 3-4 as a DE/OLB? Would Campbell or Harvey be worth a reach at #7? I'm still not sold on Gholston after his weak performance in the BCS championship game but maybe a good combine will change my mind...

Gholston didn't look that bad in the BCS game, if that was a "weak" performance then I'm sold on his value at #7. My recollection of that game had Gholston dealing with a lot of double-teams, he showed good strength at the point of attack and good hustle.
The word on Campbell is inconsistent, he might have been better off staying for another year. His sack/game average is half that of Gholston and Long. At 6'8" 282 he'd be a better fit at 3-4 DE, but there are much better prospects for DE in this draft.
Harvey is a little better fit as a 3-4 OLB, his sack numbers are a little better than Campbells. I haven't seen him, so I can't tell you any more than what his numbers tell us.
Davis is listed as an OLB at NFL Draft Scout, at 6'3" 235 he's about 10 lbs too light for the Pats, and if he was to play OLB he's about 15 lbs too light. He'll be at the Combine, so we can see if that weight is factual or not.
Hoke is another LB. At 6'1" 235 he's probably considered too small for the NFL at DE. He isn't currently invited to the Combine, so we'll need to watch for his Pro-Day numbers. I've seen him play and I liked him, his size is going to be a factor for the Pats, but if he can carry more weight he might work out at ILB.
IDN about Long here.
he seems at a bad size for a 3-4.
doesn't hav the movement and is 2 big 4 a LB, and he wud b an undersize DE IMO
Gholston = best

Gholston = best Willie Mac plays at 270, Long gets various weights in the 280-285 range. Does he have the change of direction speed (quicks) to play some zone pass coverage? Who knows, we might be able to guess once we see his Combine numbers. As far as being capable of rushing the passer and playing the run... :D
