With Malcolm Jenkins staying in school, if we decided to reach for a CB at #7 would you rather have Cason or Mike Jenkins? The only time I saw Mike Jenkins play was at the bowl game and he did not look very good to me, so I would lean toward Cason. I think that even Jack Ikegwuonu could be a better CB than Mike Jenkins but Ikegwuonu could probably be gotten in Round 2 of the draft.

For me the choice would be between Jenkins and Aqib Talib. I've never seen Cason so what little I know is coming from what I read, and I don't recall any site in the past month that projected him into the first round or ranked him in the top three "seniors."
The reported knock on Jenkins is run support and minor off-field issues. I've seen him play a few times the past two years and I think he's very talented in coverage and will be good there. We'll have to wait and see if his run support and character meets BB's standard.
I didn't key on Talib before the recent bowl game, but he looked very good to me in that game. I also like him because he brings a return game to the table. If I had to take a first round CB, it probably would be this kid, but I'd want to trade back and try and take him around 15.
As CB goes, this class may be pretty good. There are players projected for the third and fourth rounds whom I like. If that impression bears out, as I do more reading between now and the draft, I would be quite comfortable bypassing CB in round one.

I forgot about Talib but I don't know much about him and haven't seen him play. Cason is quite the ball hawk though and impressed me when I watched him. I guess it may depend on who shines at the combine and if no one does, then I think i'd rather bypass the position too as it seems deep and hopefully we can find another Samuel type player in the later rounds. Even if we do pick a CB in round one, I'd probably want to pick up another in the later rounds too!

I've watched Cason play four years here at Arizona and am STUNNED he won that award and is so highly thought of. He may be supremely coachable but he was NOT that good!? At all!! BUt what do I know I just sat in the stands wathcing Arizona lose with him for the lsat few..

I think that's what concerns me about this years draft. No one seems to be a dominant force except for maybe Dorsey and the Longs who will probably not make it to pick #7. The others such as Gholston, Mike Jenkins, etc. have played well at times and have played poorly at other times. Even McFadden seemed to disappear for a few games...

The more I hear about Talib the more I like him. He seems to have great size for a CB, better hands than McKelvin, can help with the return game, and even has experience at WR. I'm thinking right now that it may be McKelvin vs Talib as the first CB taken at this point but who knows where they will all rank after the Senior Bowl and Combine workouts? lol.

Box - NFLDraftscout.com has Cason ranked as the 2nd best CB in the draft and a top 16 prospect.
That being said, Talib or Cason would be fine.
Jack Ikewguono is facing jail time and could be starting it before the draft.
From what I've heard and read about Cason, he plays faster than he times is good in man covereage and better in zone coverage. He is also good in the run support.

So, are you saying that Cason was the SOLE reason that AZ lost all those games?
Seriously, are you? I mean, he leads the Sun Devils in tackles, passes defensed and interceptions and you claim he's not that good.

I think most of the time, teams tried to throw to the other side but when they did throw to Cason's side, he often made a play on the ball. After the Senior bowl, i'm impressed with Rodgers-Cromartie too. Right now, Cason, Rodgers-Cromartie, McKelvin and Talib seem to be all worth a first round grade. I don't want Mike Jenkins right now based on his poor bowl performance, but i'll wait for the combine results to make my final judgement. lol
