View Full Version : Tuna Bowl III a possibility? Campo, Coughlin, Lebeau Fired

12-30-2002, 01:29 PM
The Pats look to have two new coaches on their schedule next year as Campo and Coughlin get their walking papers. Could a little Tuna be on the menu? That would certainly be entertaining wouldn't it?

Should Weiss go or is the Pats offense just firing blanks?

Bonus Question: 100 points if you can correctly name the next coach to be fired.

Local talk radio stations here in the DFW area are announcing that Parcells has signed with Dallas for ~4mil/yr. It's supposed to be announced tomorrow. I can not validate this 100% but the sources are good ones.

Don't know the answer to your bonus question, but I hope it Wandstedt in Miami..... With the powerhouse team he's been given, it's unexcuseable to miss the playoffs! Bwaaahahahaha!

So Parcells has taken the job? Thanks for the skinny. How long until he officially reneges? Did you hear that the Bucs are seeking compensation for Parcells? Apparently he signed an offer sheet with them although it appears that he backed out before they submitted it to the league. D'oh. Nice try Chuckie.

The return of the Tuna! How many Tuna Bowls were there? I realized after posting that there were far more than three. The real significance was gone after about the third one. I was thinking more in terms of three coaching assignments. Four if you count the Giants, but I don't.

Who feels worse right now the Pats or the Phins? At least we won a Super Bowl. Can you imagine how much not making the playoffs has to hurt for the Dolphins after all the expectations? Remember their draft board last year? "In Round Seven the Dolphins make their first splash with...." Talk about an owie.

Again, NR, I can't confirm the Tuna signing, but local station 570 AM - KLIF is a very reputable local sports talk station, so I betcha you'll read about it tomorrow as being official.... But again, remember, I am the village idiot.... I just happen to be a village idiot in Dallas.

Wow, Pook---
I just don't see Parcells/Jones as a good mesh... Both have too bigga egos to work well together... Perhaps Parcells sees this as a "challenge", eh?! What say ye? :)

Bill's gonna get some power here w/ the Cowpokes. He'll be in charge of hiring and firing of assistants and have a substantial say in personell decisions. Maybe freak show Jerry Jones is finally realizing that he is truly a pea brain and needs to keep his freakish looking mug in the office where he belongs!

So what do you think the fate of Emmitt Smith will be? Any scuttlebutt/insider info on that topic in the DFW area?

Marty "We'll Take That End" Morninweg (sp?).

There are two choices in OT: the ball, or the door.

Holmgren would be another good choice -- the only question is why didn't they fire him last year?

However you spell his name, the Detroit coach will be axed for sure! DOH! :)
I don't see Holgrem getting fired... The Seahawks actually didn't do as badly as I thought that they would, given the new alignment and being thrown into the NFC, I figured that they would get eaten alive...
What about the Cincy coach or the Cards' coach? Not much winning going on in either of those places...

Up 'till 4 hours ago, I thought Smith was done w/ the Cowboys for sure. With a better, new coach, he may find the inspiration to play on....

Dave who?

You and Peg have a good horse in McGinnis. I like his chances. To his credit I think he would just be a scapeqoat.

Looks like Mornhinweg got a reprieve so I am left with Holmgren. I have to disagree with Peg here as to how Holmgren has done with Seattle. It is not this season that he should be held accountable for but every season since he left Green Bay. The body of work. At Green Bay he had Lambeau Field.

Sometimes it's the coach and sometimes it's just an excuse. There are 32 teams and they can't all win. Take Lebeau with Cincinnati. That is one of those franchises that no one wants to play for (aka Bledsoe).

I so hope that Parcells signs with Dallas. What a cluster-:hump: that would be. Jones and Parcells. They deserve each other. I just want to see the carnage.

Buddy!! I can't wait 'till he signs with the Cowgirls! I'm right here in the middle of this pathetic media frenzy. The fans are already talking playoffs next year. We shall see. But it sure is fun to listen to. Makes me feel pretty darn good to be a Patsie fan!

Looks like you are going to get your wish Pook, the circus is coming to town. According to ESPN, Parcells has officially accepted a 4 year deal worth $17.1 million. Those that do not learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them. I cannot wait. TUNA TUNA TUNA! -- wasn't that the war cry of the Japanese when they bombed Peal Harbor? Yippeecayee motherfker! You can tune a piano but can you Tuna Cowboy? This is going to get interesting.:thumb:
