View Full Version : This is the thread where you talk about Zombies

You can't be off-topic in this thread as long as you talk about Zombies, post a zombie pic or something. For those of you that are offended by zombies, or same-zombiesex marriage, you can start your own thread.
While reading T.S. Eliot's 'The Waste Land', Annihilus realized that there is a whole section about a zombie (not to mention the first couple lines of this section sounds like a Cure song; they're not zombies, but that's neither hear nor there). See the words bolded below for zombie goodness.
"You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
"They called me the hyacinth girl."
- Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
Looking into the heart of light, the silence.

Right NOW is the perfect time for zombies (though the 60's would've been good too....imagine slipping your zombie friend a tab of LSD....WHOOHOO! Psychadelic FREAKOUT! He'd be trying to eat his own brain and sh!t).

The Baron's list of real life zombies;
John Madden - his brain was eaten a long time ago, and he always repeats himself over and over over.
Pat Summerall - I've seen corpses that look better with less makeup.
Keith Richards - Does anyone disagree with this one?
Mick Jagger - Ugly as sin, and look at his herky jerk motions
Joe Cocker - see above
Christopher Walken - Someone has to be the Zombie Master, who better?
Dick Cheney - He actually died several years ago, but they keep pumping him full of proto-blood to keep him going
Nancy Pelosi - Talk about bride of Frankenstein, nuff said
Ted Kennedy - He's so pickled he will never die

Not sure if this guy qualifies or not....but he probably belongs in his own 'Sweet-Ass Monsters' thread. And, while Aliyah was hot in Queen of the Damned, she's only a pretender because she doesn't eat brains.
Pan's Labryinth is excellent though, a must see if you can get past the fact that it's in Spanish and subtitled.

Personally, I much prefer a steaming pile of fresh entrails to chewy brain matter, plus they have more grams of dietary fiber per weight, but there's no accounting for personal taste.
I will say that I find fast zombies much scarier than the lumbering Marquise Hill types.

A book about some kind of plague that turns people into zombies and the remaining humans fighting for survival against them. I have not read it yet but a friend at work says it is a great book.
You must try out the Calculate Risk Tab at the top of the page to the right. It is a series of questions to answer and it then calculates your survival chances if what took place in the book actually happened. A very fun exercise. If you take the test post your percentage here.

I think the absolute top score you can get if you answer every answer the correct way is like 55% or something like that. You are already 45% dead before you even get into the questions. 8)
Apparently the correct place to run to is the Rockies. You can kill all the zombies to the west and hold the passes through the mountains so none can come through from the east. Horse is the best mode of transport because you don't depend on gas. Traveling in a group of ten is best, enough to protect each other a bit but not enough to cause to much attention.
I got like 31% when I answered honestly and then tried to fool around with it to get the highest percentage I could.

It all started as a casual chat over beers between some friends. Why not "make some kind of freaky zombie porno for Halloween"? Such are great ideas, or in this case RE-PENETRATOR, born. So let me go ahead and tell you right now that the trailer alone for this bloody suck fest wins my What The F*ck?! award for 2004.
To give you some idea what you're getting into before you head over to check it out, listen up:
The production was a twelve-hour from dusk till dawn shoot that resulted in a cum-fueled, blood-soaked parody of the classic 80’s horror movie RE-ANIMATOR...The project was a result of the combined efforts of a team of talented individuals with an unexplored fetish for blood, zombies, and sex.
RE-PENETRATOR is the story of a stripper (Joanna Angel), who after being dead for twenty years, is resurrected back to life by a perverted mad scientist (Dr. Breast). Dr. Breast vaginally injects the long-dead, but exquisitely preserved, exotic dancer with special serum so the re-penetrated corpse will return from the VIP room in hell and crave nothing but sex. After he injects her with a gooey green potion the stripper awakens with an insatiable craving for balls, and she ****s the mad scientist from the gurney to the grave.
Now you've been warned. Let me add on a personal note, the trailer was really messy and very "ewww" inducing, even knowing the concept behind it first. Enjoy!

I just realized the perfect place to go in case of a zombie attack: The Middle East.
1. Lots of deserts, which will slow down the zombies and make them more visible/give you more time to prepare.
2. Lots of crazy guys with guns who are trained to use them effectively, who could help fight the zombie hordes.
3. Anyone who gets caught by the zombies will probably blow themselves up before being infected, taking out more zombies AND preventing themselves from adding to the zombie horde.
4. Lots of secret caves designed for people to hide in and survive while the outside world is trying to kill them.

Found this on an ammo site. I have 1000 rounds of this XM193 ball ammo....
http://www.ammo-oracle.com/body.htm#diff
Q. I'm concerned about roving packs of zombies driving automobiles after the end of the world as we know it. Since, as everyone knows, you have to make headshots to kill zombies, what ammo should I be using to defeat zombies in automobiles?
Without commenting on the wisdom of engaging roving packs of zombies without adult supervision, the best performing rounds, in terms of penetration of 6mm laminated front windscreen auto glass and other automobile structures, are probably the Federal Tactical 55 and 62 grain bonded JSP (LE223T1 and LE223T3).
Be aware, however, that these rounds, topped with Speer's Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullet, are designed for penetration and generally do NOT fragment in CQB circumstances.
Unfortunately, Federal Tactical ammo is LEO-only, and while the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullet is available in hunting loads and as a reloading component in the 55gr weight, the 62gr version appears to be available only in the Federal Tactical line. TBBC bullets are also extremely expensive, as they are a high-end, low-volume-production item.
so there you have it...the proper ammo needed to take "headshots" at Zombies

Excellent questions.
<<
If you were a zombie what era would you live in?
>>
That's a tough question. Each era has its own challenges. I think the 50's would be a pretty good hunting time, or maybe pre or post WW I.
<<
Do you feel like a zombie out of time?
>>
Not really. Computer games help keep us up with modern ideas and weapons. I especially like House Of The Dead 4 which I've played in arcades in Japan. The good model has 60" plasma screen.
<<
Would Zombies out of Time be a good name for a band, or an album?
>>
Yes, yes it would

F'ing FBI !
FBI Tries To Fight Zombie Hordes (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6752853.stm)
FBI tries to fight zombie hordes
The vast majority of hijacked computers are Windows PCs
The FBI is contacting more than one million PC owners who have had their computers hijacked by cyber criminals.
The initiative is part of an ongoing project to thwart the use of hijacked home computers, or zombies, as launch platforms for hi-tech crimes.
The FBI has found networks of zombie computers being used to spread spam, steal IDs and attack websites.
The agency said the zombies or bots were "a growing threat to national security".
Signs of trouble
The FBI has been trying to tackle networks of zombies for some time as part of an initiative it has dubbed Operation Bot Roast.
This operation recently passed a significant milestone as it racked up more than one million individually identifiable computers known to be part of one bot net or another.
The law enforcement organisation said that part of the operation involved notifying people who owned PCs it knew were part of zombie or bot networks. In this way it said it expected to find more evidence of how they are being used by criminals.
"The majority of victims are not even aware that their computer has been compromised or their personal information exploited," said James Finch, assistant director of the FBI's Cyber Division.
Many people fall victim by opening an attachment on an e-mail message containing a virus or by visiting a booby-trapped webpage.
Many hi-tech criminals are now trying to subvert innocent webpages to act as proxies for their malicious programs.
Many bots are used to send out junk mail or spam
Once hijacked, PCs can be used to send out spam, spread spyware or as repositories for illegal content such as pirated movies or pornography.
Those in charge of botnets, called botherders, can have tens of thousands of machines under their control.
Operation Bot Roast has resulted in the arrest of three people known to have used bot nets for criminal ends.
One of those arrested, Robert Alan Soloway, could face 65 years in jail if found guilty of all the crimes with which he has been charged.
In a statement about Operation Bot Roast the FBI urged PC users to practice good computer security which includes using regularly updated anti-virus software and installing a firewall.
For those without basic protections anti-virus companies such as F Secure, Trend Micro, Kaspersky Labs and many others offer online scanning services that can help spot infections.
The organisation said it was difficult for people to know if their machine was part of a botnet.
However it said telltale signs could be if the machine ran slowly, had an e-mail outbox full of mail a user did not send or they get e-mail saying they are sending spam.

Hey, Back to back, ha ha ha ha, hey, belly to belly
Yes my friends
Hey, Back to back, ha ha ha ha, hey, belly to belly
It was a zombie jamboree
Took place in the New York cemetery
Oh, it was a zombie jamboree
Took place in the New York cemetery
Zombies from all parts of the island
Some of them are great Calypsonians
Since the season was carnival
They got together in bacchanal
And they were singing
Back to back, ghoul, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, oh oh oh, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
One female zombie she wouldn't behave
See how's she's dancing out of the grave
In one hand she's holding a quart of rum
The other hand is knocking a conga drum
You know the lead singer starts to make his rhyme
While the other zombie is rockin' in time
One bystander, he had this to say
"It was a trip to see the zombies break away"
Shah! And they were singing
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, oh, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
And they were singing
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Oh, back to back, oh oh oh, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
Hey hey, back to back, everyone we sing, back to back
And belly to belly then back to back
One two three four
Hey, what a zombie jamboree
From Times Square to the Statue of Liberty
Uptown, downtown zombie jamboree
Whoa whoa whoa, yeah yeah
There's a high-wire zombie 'tween the World Trades
A King Kong zombie on the Empire State
But the biggest zombies Tokyo to Rome
The zombies who call the city home
Hah, what they do, huh
Back to back, ghoul, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, oh oh oh, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
And they were singing
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
But I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, ha ha, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
I need the chorus
Back to back, ghoul, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already, yeah
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
Back to back, hey
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, ha, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
Sing the chorus
Back to back, whoah, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, ha ha, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
Do the limbo
Back to back to back to back to belly
I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree
One more time, yeah
Back to back, belly to belly
Well, I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone dead already, yeah
Back to back, mon, belly to belly
It's a zombie jamboree

The new rooms are a little harder. You dont get new weapons or ammo quite as often. You actually have to ration the ammo. In the old Boxhead rooms, i used to kick ass with the shotgun. Ive found so far that the uzi is more effective, especially vs the red zombies.

'Zombie Chickens' Causing Debate Over Fate of Older Chickens in California
Tuesday, December 05, 2006
E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION
PETALUMA, Calif. — In this rich agricultural region of Northern California, ranchers have been turning chickens too old to lay eggs into compost at a rate of a half-million hens a year.
But some chickens not properly euthanized have been seen crawling out of the compost piles, earning them the name "zombie chickens" — and hatching a debate over what else might be done with them and other "spent hens."
A food bank proposed making sausage to feed the poor. A reptile enthusiast suggested using them as food for large exotic pets like pythons and alligators. And an industry group said in the future they could be used as fuel for power plants.
But for now, according to egg farmers in Sonoma County, composting is the only affordable option. The last California rendering plant stopped taking the hens in May.
"If there was something that could be done, it would be done," said Petaluma egg farmer Arnie Reibli.
The egg-laying birds have only a pound of usable meat, compared to the 5-pound chickens typically raised for eating. Slaughtering the chickens, even to transport them unprocessed and frozen whole, would likely cost more than composting them, Reibli said.
"Unfortunately, it's less expensive to go out and buy the birds than process them," said David Goodman, executive director of the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa, which had considered the sausage-making plan.
To kill the chickens, farmers suffocate them in sealed boxes filled with carbon dioxide, a practice that has drawn the ire of animal rights groups. Afterward, the hens are layered in mounds of sawdust.
A new European technology that turns dead cows into fuel to generate electricity — and that could be the fate of spent hens someday, said Rich Matteis, head of the Pacific Egg and Poultry Association.
But "that's not something that's going to be available anytime soon," he said.

Zombies Invading Best Buy For Resident Evil 5 Launch
Best Buy may be taking a page from Hollywood premiere events for big video game events in the future. The change is being led by a store full of ambling zombies and a chainsaw-wielding Dr. Salvador.
On March 13, the Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania Best Buy will convert part of their store into a haunted house. They will be dressing up employees as zombies, turning their bank of televisions to eerie no-signal snow and even putting a person in a potato-sack mask and giving them a chainsaw, all to celebrate the launch of Resident Evil 5... and maybe sell a few copies of the game.
"You want to get away from midnight releases, that's stale, that's old," said Dave Partenio, supervisor of gaming and media at the store. "We want to have a premiere game party for this game."
And Best Buy corporate offices are keeping a close eye on the event. If they go over well, and the store's sales reflect that, than we may be seeing more theme release nights for games in the future. The idea would turn a long night of waiting in the dark with other gamers into a sort of party.
"It's all about the experience," Partenio said.
The store has also been in talks with Capcom to try and round up some special giveaways and prizes and the local university to work out a deal to donate to a charity there.
The event will kick off at midnight on March 13, with employees leading small groups of gamers through the store's haunted house and eventually to pick up and buy their copy of the game.
Partenio said that the store has been open for about a year and includes a built in gaming center. The center has eight screens hooked up to four gaming systems — a PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 — so people can try out titles before they buy them.
The idea of bringing zombies into the store for the launch came from employee Drake Campbell, and then the store ran with it, he said.
Sounds like a neat idea and one that, if you like and live in the area, you should probably show up to, to support.
Enjoy!

There haven't been zombie Nazis since Shockwaves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_Waves)! Note: this is a Norwegian film and subtitled, so it's not likely to hit major theaters. You'll probably either have to scope out an independent theater or wait for the DVD.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet but have you all seen the trailer for Zombie Land? That movie looks like it's going to be incredible.
Also, I'm a zombie movie rookie compared to most of you. I was out playing golf yesterday and I was waiting in the cart to tee off admiring the scenery when it donned on me. Why hasn't anyone done a zombie scene on a golf course? Or have they? I could totally envision a scene where a group of golfers stand on a tee box and drill ball after ball at a mob of zombies emerging from the trees and then hopping in their carts and hauling a$$ out of there with zombies in tow. Should I be calling Hollywood right now?
