View Full Version : New Chargers Unis unveiled
story (http://chargers.com/news/headlines/chargers-to-unveil.htm)
Looks pretty cool to me.
What was wrong with the old ones?
I guess some teams have to run a new look every other season for whatever reason.
More jersey sales?

Not that big a change. During the years after switching from Red to Blue, the Patriots made similar tweaks on an almost yearly basis. The blue has gotten darker, and we lost the subtle vertical stripes. We've had at least 3 different stripe patterns on the pant legs. The chargers are just pushing their lighting symbols a bit more.
But I've noted that once a team wins a Super Bowl, it is unlikely to change uniforms a lot. Losing teams look for new traditions. Former winners cling to old traditions.

"The main alteration to the jersey is that the new lightning bolt now stretches around the shoulder as opposed to over the top of it, a feature that Tomlinson is quite fond of. "
“It kind of makes you look like you're bigger than what you are,” Tomlinson said. “I know people always say, 'Well you look small.' Now I may look a little bigger. I think that’s going to help me hopefully score more touchdowns."
Are you serious? More touchdowns because they changed the lighting bolt on the jersey?
Hell, Why don't we just change team uniforms every year, then we don't have to spend a lot of money on free agents...as long as we have cool uniforms the guys will play better!!!!
:jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit: WTF?

Those are some classy uniforms they got going on... book their Super Bowl trip today!
I have to ask... what is with teams nowadays feeling it absolutely necessary to put their team name under the neck? It was unique when the Bucs, Eagles, and Pats started it... now it's at least slightly out of control.

I don't get it.
Bold new tradition?
WTF is a new tradition?
“All of those guys had their identity, their kind of uniform that made it unique for their teams,” Tomlinson said. “Well, I think it is time for us to have our identity, with our jerseys. This is our era. We’ve got great guys on this team and this is going to be the San Diego Chargers for years to come. So I think it is only right to have our own new jerseys and create our own era and our own identity.”
Translation: "Football isn't about tradition, it's about new tradition. Football isn't about the team, it's about us. Those old guys that don't play anymore are irrelevant, and we're too classy to be associated with them anyway."
