GREEN GETTING THE HEAVE-HO?
Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that Chiefs quarterback Trent Green has been asked to restructure his contract, and has been given the opportunity to talk with other teams.
In other words, Green has been politely told to get the hell out of town.
Stay tuned. There were reports recently that the Dolphins might be interested.
Love to see him as Brady's backup, but he'll be a starter somewhere.

WOW - CG, any truth to this? What's the scuttle in KC?
I'd be surprised if this happened. Maybe they just want him to restructure to get more cap room? What's their cap situation?
I dunno - Trent's a good QB. I'd hate to see him done wrong.

Ditto.
I'm wondering if his injury last season has anything to do with this. Huard did a fine job of filling in while Trent was out. When Trent came back, the season seemed to go downhill for KC.
Since KC re-signed Hurad to a 3 year extension, maybe they are thinking of making him Trent's replacement.

Hmmmmmmmmmm......
KC has a disgruntled star QB and is in desperate need of a WR.
OAK has a disgruntled star WR and is in deperate need of a QB.
Naaaaaaaaaa....It would be too juicy to ever happen.....

i think green could be a good fit for miami or chicago...Rex grossman and culpepper are done winning games...he cant go to houston because they have no line and he is a drew bledsoe and no better than Carr...if they get Levi Brown in houston, then hed be good

Huard DID do a good job when Trent was out, and yes, the team did struggle when Green came back. Still, Trent is a good QB, and if he's truly healthy, he should earn a spot somewhere, if not KC. Will be interesting.....

Huard is a good QB, he did well against the Pats when he was with the Fins. I was very glad when he was our backup here. He did well last year for KC.
If I was the Bears front office I would've been on the phone to his agent the moment I heard Green was available.

I couldn't resist expanding on your post, HH.

he's not "out".....he is wanted in KC, maybe not as a starter, but wanted none the less, but he has been asked to take a pay cut.....and really, any team he goes to is gonna ask him to take a pay cut......after all he was out 8 games last year, and is 36-37 years old....CP told him they wanted him back....just not at his present pay....

Trent will have to compete for the starting QB job in KC if he stays with us.... I thought you all knew this....they want Brodie in as soon as posible and told Trent and Damon this....Damon is just fine with being a back up/starter when needed and already signed....and don't think I am defending CP, but what he told Trent is right....you wanna be the starter, show us..because after he came back from being hurt last year all he showed me was a QB scared of being hit again....:(

I can see that he might be asceered of being hit again. Last year wasn't the first time he'd been taken out because of a big hit.
Who was it that took Trent out the first time? His name escapes me at the moment, but I'm sure I'd recognize it.

I'm beginning to wonder if Bledsoe may end up in KC.

I will preface this with it is that idiot Clayton reporting, but ESPN is saying Green will likely be traded in the next week or so, no other details.
Trent Green to the Bears would make the Bears a better team. Same holds true for the Dolphins. He's a good, smart QB. Too bad he'd be to expensive as a backup.

Hey, CG, check this out (Per Adam Schefter NFL.com)
CODE OF THE WEST
Kansas City sent out a memo to the rest of the NFL, declaring that quarterback Trent Green is free to discuss a deal with every team in the league -- except the ones in the AFC West.
Well, San Diego doesn't need a quarterback; it has Philip Rivers.
The Chiefs front office will make sure Oakland doesn't get to Trent Green.
Denver doesn't need a quarterback; it has Jay Cutler.
But Oakland ... Oakland needs a veteran quarterback to be the bridge until presumptive No. 1 pick JaMarcus Russell is ready. So Kansas City's memo could easily be read as a direct message to the Raiders that the Chiefs are unwilling to deal Green to them.
The Chiefs' problem is they have to find a trading partner to prevent Green from landing in Oakland. Miami is interested and is the most likely landing spot for Green. And the fact that Oakland looms in the background could provide the impetus Kansas City needs to get a deal done.
But the Chiefs realize if they can't trade Green, the quarterback could wind up in Oakland.
Question: Why wouldn't they extract something out of the Raiders? Hell, I'd be asking for Moss, just as I eluded to earlier in this thread. Is the hatred that strong?

I haven't seen anything about this on my boards...I don't know how badly they hate the raiders..my hate is for the broncos, but you could understand why they wont deal him to any afc west team, right........and remember, it's not up to anyone else, the chiefs made green and offer and told him they want him to stay.....its up to trent if he's dealt away or not...

1) The Chiefs most likely have to send that memo out to the other teams in the league granting Green permission to seek a trade. Otherwise, they could level a tampering charge.
2) Obviously, when you lose a valued player, you would prefer that they don't stay within the division, or even conference. However, it does happen, even in trades. Look at Bledsoe being traded to the Bills, or even Welker this year.
3) A guy like Green doesn't have a ton of options right now, and with the Raiders being a perfect fit AND having the capital (low draft picks or Randy Moss) and the need, why would CP not at least explore the possibility of letting TG and his agent try to strike a deal? You can always say no!
I don't get it when you most likely will either cut him, or trade him to someone else (TB? ROFL ) and he's likely to end up in Oakland anyway. Oakland has what you want, let him try to strike a deal!

That won't really block a move to Oakland if its really wanted. Another team gets Green and trades for Moss. Oakland gets their QB and gets rid of the biggest cancer they have.
