I was hoping one of the esteemed football arm chair coaches (i mean this in a goodway :) ) could give me a detailed scouting report on Thomas, because while i find myself being sucked into the hype because of all that i've read on thomas and before the patriots were said to be the frontrunners I can't honestly say i've seen him play more than a few times. Is he durable? how is he against the run? etc. etc. anything you could contribute would be appreciated because i'm sure i'm not the only one here who is starving for more information on our new stud LB.

I think, without getting too specific, Thomas is like 6'4" 260-ish and fast/athletic enough to cover pretty much all tight ends, and some slot recievers. I have read that the Ravens have sometimes lined him up at CB. OMG
I think in a Belichick defense, he is going to be a monster.

This may give you some perspective: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2688334Ryan keeps a copy of the DVD in his office at the Ravens' practice facility, and from time to time, he'll pop it in. For football fanatics, it's better than porn. The tape begins with Thomas' playing nose tackle and ends with his walking out past the hash mark to line up as a corner on Chad Johnson. Press coverage. Pro Bowl receiver. By a 270-pound man. "Man, get your big, fat ass back inside before I embarrass you," Johnson yelled with a dismissive wave of his hand.
"Watch this," Ryan giggles. At the snap, Thomas jams Johnson at the line of scrimmage and drives him backward all the way to the Gatorade table. Ryan freezes the frame, and the room falls dark and silent for a few seconds. Then Ryan adds: "In 10 years, when this kind of physically versatile player is a full-blown phenomenon, people will be wondering who started the whole trend. And you'll be able to point back to this moment and say, 'Hey, I know who it was.' "Just think Mike Vrabel with a bit more speed.

Felger on ESPN-Boston yesterday pointed out how consistant Thomas has been in the following categories the last 3 years
Games Played | Tackles | Assists | Sacks | Int
this alone is tremendous, notwithstanding his versatility to play up and down the D-line and beyond
talk about a good investment :thumb: :thumb:

With the training available to these athletes nowadays, I've got to think there's a good chance the Pats get at least 3-4 very productive years out of him.

Hanging in there - enjoying the wind (time to put a windmill in the backyard). Got to go run my Saturday errands - back in a jiff.
I'd really like to see the Pats come to terms with Moss (on a more reasonable contract) and the Raiders. McDaniels loves the vertical game, as does Brady from what I observe - he'd be a good fit.

Thomas will make all the linebackers better. It will be interesting how Ray "thug" Lewis's play for the Ravens will be affected. Probably wont affect his dance routine which is similar to Elaine Benis' on Seinfeld.
