alrighty then, lets try to figure out what to do this year.

The last one, Bid did a great job finding a spot and all that attended had a good time I am told. :D

The subject now is location for we know the date, April 28, and we all know the reason, to drink heavily while the Patriots front office works it's Magic.

anyone have any ideas? suggestions?

the Endzone in Foxborough is back up and running?

Doc's in Milford was great and one of us could check to see if we are allowed back again .... that is an option?

unfortunately the Naked eye is closed so that is out of the question so if anyone else have any suggestions let us know and we can go from there

I haven't been to Doc's in awhile. Still too ashamed to show my face  I emailed the two places I mentioned and inquired if a draft party was planned

I also asked Doc's if the room we used last year was available hoping they remember only the bar tabs and invite us back

The best Draft Party was STILL the one at the END ZONE. None of this special room with reservations stuff. We showed up and found out they had $1 drafts and 25 cent chicken wings with the Draft on their big TV.
I know that someone ended up just getting a room also.

The idiots are spending $80 for NOTHING (3 soft drink tickets) across the street at the Gillette rip off.

I also remember someone having a different location in an earlier thread....

I disagree. I still think going to the END ZONE and definitely NOT telling them we're coming is the best plan. There is no need for a waitress when they have a BARTENDER.

But if you want to make plans with some owner I'll probably still show up like last year.

Joe, I'm wondering what the fascination is with The End Zone? I'm not knocking it, just curious why you're pulling for it so strongly. It was an OK place when we went there. The cheap beer was a plus, although some of us don't care for the watered down stuff. But they had just one screen. And the Sox are playing the Yankees at 3:55 that afternoon. There's a strong chance that the draft could get bumped for that.

BTW, Mikie, keep the Sox game in mind when you check around. At most places, the main screens (assuming multiple TV's) will be tuned to that unless there's a deal in place beforehand. Whether we like it or not, the Sox/Yanks will take priority just about anywhere in this area.

I have no idea what they're doing, but Dave and Buster's in my mall is a great place to watch sports. They have a giant bar with multiple TV sets over it, and an ass-kicking arcade. Might be a little hard to hear the draft over the arcade noise, but the bar is big enough for a few dozen people, probably...

I am asking each place if they mind a group to come in and watch the NFL draft and will remember to bring up the sox

that may make a place with a room and multiple TV's the way to go so we can watch both if the crowd wants

I am looking for input from people attending on where they may want to go so IF anone plans on coming let us know your opinions

It might be time for a field trip ;)

Mikie, even a place like Doc's may require a room to be reserved ahead of time considering the Sox game. We were able to use the room last year because no else had grabbed it. I didn't bother reserving it because the Sox weren't playing until night on that Saturday, so I knew it would be fairly quiet.

Don't underestimate the power of a Sox/MFY game. Sports bars make big money on those days and they're not going to give up a big screen for a few Pats fans who want to watch the draft.

Does anyone want to have a house party? I promise not to pee on your rugs.

OK, I mentioned in the past that I would be able to get Pat Flanagan's in Quincy as an option for the Draft Day Party. It's just a suggestion, but if people want to have the party there, I need to know soon so that I can reserve the back room. It's a private room with 4 TVs plus a big screen. We would have our own private bar tender and we can have a buffet style spread with many different kinds of pub food (yes odlirama there will be chicken) or you can just order your own food on a separate tab, makes no difference to me. I am not averse to going anywhere, I will be in attendance and am open to any suggestions.

Here is the thread where all suggestions for such an event should be discussed. I hope each and every one of you in the Boston area attend as this is one of the most important events in Patriots history to date, so it's something you don't want to miss.

Let the planning begin.

It's a football lounge. I think it's centrally/fairly located for us. Anyone would know where it is without directions (2 blocks from the stadium).
We/I could tell anyone going to the Gillette party to come by after. They would definitely have the draft on the bigger TV and baseball at the bar.
Reservations somewhere is ridiculous of course, since people show up at all times from 11:30-4 PM. And leave different times too.
While I'm 40 miles north of Gillette, at least the END ZONE isn't any further south. Cheap to stay there.
No families like other places.

The Outlaw would be fair. But I like the idea of the END ZONE.

Good. I like a renovated kitchen. I also like a place near Gillette.

We definitely have to realize that every year, because it's a Saturday, people are busy with errands and show up at different times. We are not a "group" that arrives at 11:30, or at 3 PM. The draft starts at noon, but the Pats won't draft until 3:30-4 PM (unless they trade up).

How many people would you say were at the party last year at any given time?

My contact at Pat Flanagan's is going to ask me when I talk to him later. As long as the room is available, I will have him "pencil" us in just so we have something reserved. There will be no deposit, they will give us the room, that I am confident. I will keep you posted on my findings later on this evening.

Basically, in all liklihood, we can have that back room all to ourselves, but if there are only say, 20 people, that may be a problem. We would need a solid 50 people, at least, in order to get that back room to make it "worth their while" for the bartender [who is hot BTW]. They would allow us to order food from the regular menu so we would not have to pre-order a "buffet" type deal, although that can still be an option if we desire.

I think the Red Sox are playing the Yankees that day as well, so that would definately be on the TV.

Any objections, questions, concerns?

As a point of reference (and as a warning for others who might be thinking about attending), this was a group photo that joephoto took last year. This doesn't include everyone who attended at some point in time. There are 15 in the pic + joe taking the photo. I'd guess there were around 20-22 at its peak.

I actually now recognize a few people.

Question: how many behind the banner aren't wearing pants? :D

My wife (who is wearing the red Brady jersey) was 5 months pregnant in that picture. Of course I was wearing pants. :sulk:

As a point of reference (and as a warning for others who might be thinking about attending), this was a group photo that joephoto took last year. This doesn't include everyone who attended at some point in time. There are 15 in the pic + joe taking the photo. I'd guess there were around 20-22 at its peak.

Update on Pat Flanagan's:

We would need in essence of 50+ people, as I mentioned earlier, in order to get the back private room. The room is simply too big for a small gathering of 20 - 30 people. It is not "cost effiecient" for the establishment to hire a bar tender and waitress. Sorry.

However, my contact did tell me that we could have the back portion of the bar (there is a small room used for smaller functions) where we would have a bar tender and waitress to accommodate us. In that little area, there are about 5 TVs and a big screen. We would still be able to have a buffet style where we could all chip in or order food on your own separate tab.

In addition to that small room, there are also pool tables located to the left and there are TVs there as well for your draft watching enjoyment.

I know many of the regulars there that are also huge Pats fans and would welcome Patriots Planet with open arms and even join us. Let me know what you guys want to do. I know we have plenty of time, but the quicker I can get this set up, the better chance we have of getting all of this locked up.

COOKIEINCOLLEGE

I don't care where we go. Now that I'm cookieoutofcollege and not getting some big award I can't even remember about, I will be there!

I believe Joe's love for the endzone is from many fond drunken nights there with cheap booze and cheaper rooms!

Some of us have long drives and don't feel like drinking and driving which is understandable. I do like Flanagans though. Many great nights there and the bartenders are hot. I also like the outlaw and the food is fantastic.

Nothing can beat a day with the draft, some drinks, many friends and a spankees loss to the hometown boys to boot.

I'll see everyone there. TAX season will be over and it's time for this accountant to partay! o:-)

P4, I think Pat Fanagans is fine, with the number of TV's I am sure the draft will stay on along with the Sox/Yankees game

any objections?
any concerns?

could we get a head count going to see if we meet the number

Quincy is a central location and does have hotels if needed

I need a head count if it's going to be held at Flanagan's. If we hit 50 we get the function room privacy benefit. If not, we get the back room with extra TVs and pool tables.

It's gonna be tough to get 50. As I posted earlier, last year was the biggest one yet and we were in the low 20's. Right now, my wife and I are planning on attending.

I know, I was just relaying the information that was given to me. In general, if it's going to be at Flanagan's, I would have no problem being the Planet's "point person" on this for I have a contact there.

It won't be a problem, I just want the details so I can get to work on this. :D

I will finalize this at some point during the week. I spoke to the manager this morning after reading the last couple of posts, and as of right now, they are thrilled and honored to have us. Who has the Patriots Planet banner?

Usually at noon time, there is nothing going on there anyways. We should virtually have the entire place to ourselves, minus the local patrons. There would be no need to have the function room as we will be allowed to occupy the entire bar.

I'll keep yous all posted.

Sir Drinkalot and Dame Rachael have the banner. At least they had it in Florida for the Dec 10th Pats/Fish game.

I'll mention it one more time. Every year people have Saturday errands to do/family stuff, etc. While 50 may come- some at 11:30 and some at 3:30- we'll probably have 25 the most at any one time.

I'll be there. Probably by noon.

Huh, huh, huh, I quoted myself. :D

Pat Flangan's is ready for us! Got the back portion of the bar reserved and everything is in 'go' mode as of right now, today. There are plenty of TVs, plus the big screen where we will commence the draft activities at 12 noon. There will be a sign for us designating the area where the party will be, and they will also have a sign welcoming us (blackboard type deal) at the front where people walk into the establishment inside the front door.

4PM Sox/Yankee game, but the draft will most definately get volume and take precedence. There are 162 baseball games, there is only 1 draft day party per year. We'll live.

On a side note, during every Patriots game on Sundays, they do a free halftime buffet. I am going to request that they do something for us in that regard as well as I have promised them in essence of 25+ drinkers. I will make this request as we approach closer to the date. That means that people wil not have to order their own food, in all liklihood, but can if he/she so desires.

I look forward to seeing you all. My buddy (who isn't a member here) and I are working diligently on this to make this the best draft day party ever. Many surprises and ideas are being thrown around daily! (sorry, no hints, I won't tell) Hopefully this will be the building block for future events to come! :thumb:

I always wondered how big linemen kept their weight on during the season?

When I played football I always dropped about 15-20 lbs before the season even started. With two a days and constant running and sprints I had everything I could do to keep weight on. I used to eat twice as much calories during the season just to maintain.

Does Vince have to up his calories during the season to maintain his size?

Ps. Love your Husband.. I have seen him on FSN a bunch of times and he seems like a good guy. He is such a force in the middle of the pats defense. Hope you guys stick around for his career:)

Trust me he doesn't need any help keeping his weight on. It balances out in the off season since his activity level drops he actually gains a few pounds but when off season work outs start and training camp he gets to his desired weight with no problem.

email fans@vincewilfork75.com my problem is it is always off season for me now yet I maintain Vince's playing weight - or close to it.

I used to be the only guy I hung with to lose weight during the winter months and gain it during the summer, but I needed it to play. oh yeah and I liked BBQ and beer

You probably should put those 2 links on your signature so that they are allways there whenever you post. That way no matter what the topic whenever someone reads any of your posts and sees them, if the spirit moves them they can click and maybe make a donation to Vince's cause.
Maybe we can pass around a buckett at our little get together and then send you the sum.

Believe it or not, it was dashoe who inspired this idea. I can bring all my SB DVDs and have them play on some of the TVs at Pat Flangan's for the Draft Day party. They have a DVD player there hooked into every last TV. I did this prior to SB XXXIX. Just a thought.

Anyone interested, or forget it?

Yeah. I could bring my small portable DVD player and plug it into at least one TV for viewing. Just bring SB XXXVI, that will always be the best one.

When you need a taxi, just tell the bartender and they'll call the 'yellow cab' for you, which usually takes about 15 minutes.

All I can tell you is that we're going to have a good time. :thumb:

*Update* (in no particular order)

Pool tables are being brought back in for those interested.

SB DVDs are a go, we can control which TVs will show them. I will bring all 3.

Other TVs will show draft day coverage, I'm thinking 1 will be ESPN, the other will have NFLN so we have 2 points of view.

4PM, Yankees/Red Sox. I don't think we'll be requesting volume though, but if people want to watch it, they will have volume on the TVs at the bar area.

My buddy and I are currently working on the free buffet deal, we won't bring it up to management until at least a week before the event. However, you can order food from their regular menu.

They have Keno there and sell scratch tickets.

I was thinking about having T-shirts printed, but I think it will be too much money so I'm scratching that idea, unless someone else can come through.

Other minor details are being handled on my end. Taxi company is on speed dial.

Any other ideas, please let me know.

I wanted to check with Harrison37 prior to agreeing to accept the items

what I will do is park my truck as close as possible and load the stuff into it as it comes in to be sent out within a couple days of the draft party.

So read up, see what you can donate and this gives you an additional reason to attend the draft party.

If any one can't attend but would like to donate goods PM me and will will figure something out

OK, here's the deal. We have secured the free buffet. My buddy who deals with management there has informed me that this is a definate go. Kudos to him! He will be in attendance.

I will tell him that we are expecting 30 - 40 people so that they know how much food to put out. We just need to figure out what time they should put the food out, but it will probably be around 1 or 2. I will work on that in the coming week along with a couple of other minor items that need to be tightened up.

This is going to be a great time, I promise you that.

The pool tables are back in operation as well with a little table area back there as well with TVs and the like for those who are interested.

I have to work that morning until 11:00am, and then I'm heading up there so I should be there by the time the 1st pick is made.

I'm coming from Rhode Island, and I need EXPLICIT DIRECTIONS. I've never done a damn thing in Quincy. From looking at map sites, it looks like I take 95 North to 128 South (a/k/a still technically 95 North) and instead of bearing left to get on the XWay I stay straight, then bear right to avoid getting on to Route 3 South, then from there I bear left to get onto something called the Burgin Parkway? From that point, I go to a Dimmock Street where I take a right, and then another right onto Hancock Street and the pub is on my right? Does it have a parking lot, or do I need to use that garage I see on the Burgin Parkway side of that block? (It looks like, instead of taking a right on Dimmock, I could take an earlier right on Granite, but then I have to do this funky left-right-left thing to get around some sort of square with one way streets...)

it's been awhile since I been in the area but going to Dimmock St is too far down Burgin Pkwy before turning off it.

there is a large intersection at GRANITE & Burgin where you will bang a right, go maybe 100ft. and bang another sharp right --- Pub is like maybe 2 doors down on right (parking should be available next to and across from front door)

I'm sure P4 will correct me (if I wrong) since this seems to be his 2nd home

Ha ha RG. I do live there, but not as much as usual in the past due to the arrival of JR4ever. And I will correct you...

You don't have to go to Dimmock to Granite anymore. They have built a new, small bridge that connects Burgin Pkwy to Parkingway.

JD (and anyone else who needs directions), you take the Burgin Parkway exit and at the bottom of the ramp, you'll come to a set of lights where Quincy Adams T station is, Home Depot is directly to your right. You go through 2 more sets of lights while travelling parallel with the train tracks. Stay in the RIGHT, I repeat RIGHT LANE - VERY IMPORTANT, because at the 3rd set of lights, you're taking a right.

After taking that right and onto this NEW bridge, there will be an IHOP on your immediate left. Take a left at the set of lights, Flanagan's is on the left as is the parking lot.

Thanks sirdrinksalot, we definately need that at the party so I can hang it outside. Hopefully, you get there early. I'll be there at 11:30am with my buddy who has helped me set this whole thing up.

pm me your respective phone numbers should there be any problems.

I will post my cell number later on in the week to direct anyone that gets lost. :(

Sounds, er, simple enough... Besides, I have a MA street map book in my car. :D

We need some of those cheesy sticker-badges that you see at conferences that say, "Hello, My Name Is _____", except we need them that say, "Hey, Mother$*#(er, My Screen Name Is _____ But My REAL Name Is ____" and how many drinks HAVE you had, anyway?!?". :D

It's fairly simple. The Burgin Pkwy is a mini highway that follows the train tracks.

I have had my car up to 75MPH on this road.

As for your name tag idea, I should be easy to find as I'll be the one in the Doug Gabriel jersey. I don't think anyone but me has one. LOL

I'll be there early or late or both but I will be there mike. I have to help my friend sheetrock his kitchen at somepoint that day...maybe we will rock it in the AM and take a break or finish for the day altogether and head to Flan's...it's like 10 mins from his house in Weymouth. I may be covered in sheetrock dust but I'll be there.

I only took a few photos, but I don't want to post them without people's OK.

I have shots which include Patriots4Ever, Odirama, JoePhoto, Mikiemo, PA Pats, Bideau, DChester, Cookie, RG, TBrownslady, Raz, and a couple of guys whose names I don't remember.

If any of the above want the pics, send me an e-mail at JD10367a@aol.com (don't forget the "a" at the end of my usual screen name) and I'll e-mail you some small 60K versions.

Oh, yeah, and I second Joe's thanks to P4 for setting up the party. Seems like it was a decently-located place for us to all get to. We'll have to do it again next year--although I suppose we can set it up for the evening, since we know the Pats will be picking 32nd. :D
