View Full Version : Polian played Pioli & Belichick like a fiddle.

Throughout the entire off-season I found it interesting that we heard so much about how the Colts coveted Maroney. I thought, Polian NEVER shows his hand when it come to the draft, whats this about? I remembered when we drafted Edge, and how all we heard prior to that was how the Colts loved Ricky Williams..... Boom Polian shocks everyone, media and pundits alike by drafting James, whom the Colts never uttered a word of.

So I can't help but think that the Pats front office and nearly the entire league got played in the 2006 draft by Polian not speaking a word about Addai so that he had a better chance to fall to them at the 30th pick. I get the feeling that the Pats front office was letting their emotions get the best of them in thinking that they could stick it Poilan by "taking" his RB. Jokes on them.

It's becoming clearer every week that Joseph Addai is the best RB in the draft and perfect for the Colts offense. This guy can do it all, run inside, run outside, excellent hands, great work ethic, and a power runner as well.

This has got to be eating at Pioli and Belichick. :4321:

Yeah, I'm sure they are feeling awful about it. Maroney's played horrible this year.

Addai looks like he's going to be a good back and so does Maroney. I understand you're just trolling but this is weak even for you.

I think Polian's dumb because he didn't need to draft a RB in the 1st round. He needed to draft DL or LB that can actually play physical and stop the run. But once again 'ol BP outsmarted himself and the Colts have an undersized defense that won't cut it when the big boys play in January.

I know this is a pure troll Dashoe, but do you really believe that ANYONE (much less Belichick and Pioli) would draft anyone to "stick it" to another team?

Do you really believe that?

We are all happy here with Maroney. How Addai does has no bearing. The Patriots picked the guy they wanted.

Addai will be a good 3rd down back. He's too small to play full time in this league....as evidenced by him splitting time with a journeyman.

Both teams should be happy with their RBs.

Addai 6-0 214 lbs

Maroney 5-11 205 lbs

3rd down backs usually return kicks. Which one of the two returns kicks?

Where did you get those numbers, dummy?

http://www.patriots.com/team/index.cfm?ac=players Maroney - 5-11 220lbs.

http://www.colts.com/sub.cfm?page=roster Addai - 5-11 214lbs.

Addai has the benefit of playing with what is the best passing offense in the league. If you stuck Addai anywhere else in the league he would not have the numbers he has. If you stuck Maroney in Addai's place you'd quickly forget about Joseph.

Our offense is still in transition and our WRs are not established. Our offensive line has had injuries. Our top blocking TE has been in and out. And Brady hasn't exactly been "feared" through the air when throwing to the castoff WRs the Patriots are fielding this season.

If Brady had Harrison and Wayne as his starters I think it's clear that Maroney would be killing. If you gave Manning Reche Caldwell and Troy Brown could you say the same about Addai?

Dashoe, I don't know much of you, but you're clearly mentally retarded.

Now wait a minute! I thought the Colts offense would go in the tank without Edge. How Edge's absence would render the play action useless and that Mannings numbers would plummet.

thats exactly what was said here.

thats exactly what was said here. What I said was the Colts offense would go in the tank for the playoffs, like they do every year.

Actually, what was said was that "Behind that arena league, flag football, powder puff offense, my grandmother could wheelchair for a 1000 yards"

C'mon, dashoe. Were you serious with this post? This is shaming me, as a Colts fan.

The Colts didn't play anyone. There was no way Addai was going to go before the Colts pick. If he got by the Colts, he would have lasted into the middle of the second round, perhaps.

We'll never know who the Colts had atop their draft board. We do know that the Addai pick came in after like a minute or so, so that tells me with what was on the board, they didn't even have to think about it. Addai was their man. He could have been their #1 all along. We'll never know.

But give me a break. Polian played nobody. Run that draft 1,000 different ways, and Addai would be there for the Colts pick every single time.

And the last time I checked Zero SB's for Indy which is the same number as Cleveland and Detroit. Well; at least Detroit has hosted a few of them.

BD is correct, that is dashoe. He posted here under that name and was assclowned after 80 some odd posts. We've let him post as dashoe for some reason without sending him here to the assclown asylum permanently.

Probably because he's such an easy target.

Thank God for a voice of reason amongst our resident Colt fans.

I just checked out Indystar too, Dash-hole, looks like you're a real knucklehead over there too.

My personal favorite is where he brags about how Polian keeps it "close to the vest" on draft day. What, like anyone but Belichick knew we were going to take Laurence Maroney?

Far more likely is Polian keeps it "close to the vest" because everyone he actually wants is gone by the time the Dolts get to pick... and yet somehow they still never get that 32nd pick...
