View Full Version : So who is this FallingAlice? A brief history of the Planet

(Since it came up on the Well, well, well thread and I would guess that some of the members that joined in the last year or so might still be curious about the FallingAlice phenomena, then here is a little story that I wrote that gives a little background on her and on the site.

It was written with the understanding that she would not be returning and we (the 25 mods) wanted her to know that she was not forgotten, but had not put the story on the main page yet.

Now she returns and screws up my maudlin attempt at a tribute. Nevertheless, here it is. )

Gisoolg is the Great Spirit Creator who is the one who made everything. The word Gisoolg in Mik'Maq means " you have been created ". It also means " the one credited for your existence".

The word does not imply gender. Gisoolg is not a He or a She, it is not important whether the Great Spirit is a He or a She.

The Mik'Maq people do not explain how the Great Spirit came into existence only that Gisoolg is responsible for everything being where it is today. Gisoolg made everything.
----- taken from a Micmac indian creation myth

In the beginning there was only Patriots.com and the technologically primitive message board there. That was the starting point.

At some point during the 2001 season I became aware of a new member there who went by the handle of Puckstopper. He was apparently a goalie on some kind of hockey team and I was drawn to his posts/thoughts because of their style, insight and crackling intelligence.

Soon it became apparent that Puckstopper was actually a woman, not that it mattered that much. In addition to her gender, several other things about her became known:

1) She is a former midwesterner who had adopted the Patriots as her team and was passionate in her support of them.

2) She is an excellent writer, with a breezy, converstational style and had a knack for knowing what kind of topics would be interesting and generate a lot of response.

3) She hated the format of that board and wanted to do something about it.

Of course, we all hated it. It was the digital equivalent of sharp sticks and mud tablets, but we didn't really have much of an alternative and had by this time had formed a loosely-knit cirle of people who enjoyed mixing it up with each other despite the inherent difficulties in doing so. It was the message, not the medium that was most important, but still.....it wasn't easy.

So, one day I was surfing that forum and saw a thread that she had started that said something like "What if I had a new message board created with all the bells and whistles? Would anyone join me over there? It took me about two seconds to say "Yes". I was not the only one.

She went on to explain that she loved the forum at www.Chiefsplanet.com and had been in touch with some people there about creating a board that would emulate Chiefsplanet. I logged on over there and was pretty impressed with the large and active membership, the ease and capability of their software and especially the humor and intelligence that seemed characteristic of so many of their members. Sports was supposed to be entertaining and fun and they seemed to have a kind of "virtual sports bar" philosophy.

I was immediately jealous. She was onto something there.

She then indicated that she would be working to make this board happen and pretty much disappeared from Patriots.com for a period of months. Then, just about when we had given up hope that a new board would happen, she reappeared under a new name: FallingAlice. This name was taken from the story of Alice in Wonderland and reflected Alice's fateful fall down a rabbit hole and into a strange new world. The choice of name was both ironic (one of her trademarks) and humorous.

She had some exciting news for us. Somehow she was able to convince the gurus at Chiefsplanet to create a board for us using their own server space and completely free of charge. I'm not sure who did what, but a guy who is known as Austin/Kyle did at least some of it and we were also introduced to Phobia who was a mover and shaker at that outstanding community.

We were in without having to invest a dime. Alice was nothing if not persuasive and I'm sure turned on some potent midwestern charm to con these guys into creating Patriotsplanet, which they graciously did.

And so the planet was zapped into existence and a small group of refugees arrived on its not-yet-teeming shores to kick the tires and experiment with it's full complement of features, which many of us had never used. We furiously tried to find snappy avatars and attached pictures to our posts with a fervor-- similar in a way to a bunch of farm-raised immigrants from the old country who couldn't get over the fact that they now had electric lights and indoor plumbing in the New World.

Alice was, of course, a major presence here and continued being her always amusing self and lent her substantial influence to the site in many ways. It began as an empty shell and soon began to fill up with the old crew from Patriots.com and gradually some new voices who seemed to "get" the community here were added to the mix and decided to stick around and hang out with us.

As a moderator she liked to practice what she termed "benign neglect" and that lent itself to our practice of letting people behave like adults and taking action in only extreme cases. She also had a knack for making people feel at home here and was quite encouraging and friendly to newbies, in direct contrast to the style of many similar sites. I would describe that as a form of maternal instinct, but she would probably get upset at me for suggesting it.

In general, she was into being relaxed and having fun with football, sports and the world outside of the arena and that is another example of her influence that still reverberates in the site today. People can discuss whatever they feel like discussing, and that seems to work out well for the most part. The members are trusted to behave themselves, and whattaya know? They do.

This site began early in the 2002 season and after some slow growth and some rocky times her little pipedream has found it's niche on the web and has made some major strides. Strides that I'm sure she finds amusing.

Unfortunately, for those newer members that may not know the story she is unable to participate in the site for personal reasons that I will not get into here, but suffice it to say it was not her wish to leave. Nor was it ours.

We won't go into all the gory details. It boiled down to a whole
lot of schadenfreude emanating from her doppelganger. It was a dark time. It's over now. She remains with us in spirit.

So if you enjoy the Planet and like hanging out here for whatever reason, whether you are a lurker or a badly addicted poster, you should know that this site will always remain FallingAlice's legacy and a small testament to people that aren't happy with the status quo so they get off their butts and do something about it.

I think she might like that.

Thank you, Alice.

Well, FallingAlice, though I don't know you, I now feel as though I do.

I am grateful for your efforts and vision.

Ahhh, enough about Alice. Nice writing, Hawg. :D

I was a lurker on here for quite a while (since the time Pookie told me about the place which was pretty early on) until finally registering a little over a year ago. I always enjoyed reading her stuff (as well as Hawg's).

Great stuff man. As usual.

Thanks. It means a lot to me.

The Planet is alive and well under new leadership. It's great to see.

That was a great read, Hawg. Very nostalgic and emotional.

Excuse me for a moment....

:crying:

OK, I'm better now.

It's amazing for me to see the changes that have taken place here. I was a lurker on patriots.com when this site started. I came over on that first day and continues to lurk for awhile. I'm fairly shy by nature. But it was quickly evident that the people running this joint (Alice, Hawg and Pookie) were non-judgemental and easy to get along with. So I slowly started to get more comfortable and joined in.

Not too long afterward, a new member started posting dozens of pics at a time in the girlie pic thread. He went by the handle, Undertaker59, a name that long time Pats fans would appreciate. He started becoming a more active member in other threads and was soon one of our busiest members.

Then, a rat in a helmet appeared on site. He had a weird handle, not one many of us understood. But Annihilus quickly became a familiar presence. He brought an interesting perspective of someone who never lived in New England, but for some reason, had long ago adopted the Pats as his team.

Then came the dark days. Without going into too many details, the Planet was in danger of imploding on itself. Alice had no choice but to leave and those of us who knew her, while disappointed, understood completely. We were at a point where Hawg and Pook were exhausting themselves trying to save it. That's when UT stepped forward, made contact with our parents at ChiefsPlanet and wrested the board from the one who wanted to destroy it. Needing help, he pleaded with Hawg and Pook to stay on as mods, which they thankfully did. He then asked myself and Anni if we would help as well. We didn't hesitate for a moment.

I think it's important that we recognize what UT has done for this place, with alot of help from Anni. Myself, Hawg and Pook have watched with amazement at the things they have done. We've added our opinions and ideas, but they've done the grunt work.

But all this hard work means nothing without the members who visit and contribute every day. There's way too many of you now to mention by name.

So Alice, this is your vision. We hope it's met your expectations. We really feel like we've just been taking care of it while you've been gone.

Oh, I almost forgot.

We should be appreciative of the work of the other 20 mods, who shall remain nameless. This place wouldn't run without the work that they do behind the scenes.

Nice read, Falling Alice is a true hero. thanks.

Also, the people over at chiefsplanet are good sh*ts, not just for letting us use server space but just in general.

Well said, Bideau.

The resident technical brainiacs UT and Anni have certainly helped the site in a wide variety of ways, not to mention yourself and the troll-killer Pookie. He is getting to be like our own Luca Brasi. :bang:

I just sort of sit around these days eating, sleeping, and living off the fat of the land.

thanks for letting me in on the history of this planet, knowing this makes the appreciation for the work done here greater. The speed that the information reaches this place is great for a rabid Pats fan like myself. although I am not as articulate as others and could possible have the worst typing skills along the Eastern Coast of the United States I enjoy the way the "non- football" issues are played out.

Thank you bid.

I came from a little different place then the original members here. I was a lurker on Mouth Off, then KFFL and also Rivals before Freak introduced me to here.

As bid said, I broke my chops in the GP thread. But this board was always where I wanted to be but just didn't know it.

I was surprised at how much I cared about this site when it went down last spring just before all of the troubles. The site was hosted on a server in Russia or something and was down for a good 3 weeks. It was then that I realized I was homeless and bought and set up patriotsplanet.net with a temporary board. Not long after, Austin got things squared away with the server and we were back up.

That time last year was crazy. I remember that Friday well. Pook was on vacation. Hawg was gone for the day, and things melted. I sent an urgent PM to the guys at Chiefsplanet, got on the phone with them and one of the first things I did as an Admin was press the ban button. I stayed up most of the night that first night and foiled several more attempts. We quickly got control, and things have been looking up since then. We then had general elections for new mods, adding Bid and Anni. Poor Pookie when he got back from vacation found 3 new mods.

Even though Alice wasn't here, I felt with all of the old-timers help, that I understood the style of the board. Back in the early 90s, I ran a dial-up BBS, and running this place is not a lot different. Patriots Planet has really filled that void for me.

Anni designed the beautiful home page that we have now, and I have gained a lot of technical knowledge that I did not have a year ago. We have a great group of mods, and we have attracted and kept a great core group of posters. Some of you that have registered within the last year, I almost could not imagine the Planet without you now.

I am thankful that Alice started this place, and glad that she is back to contribute again. Things just got a little more fun.

One more thing for those who might not know.

Our references to the "25" mods come from a user who at that time thought we had too many moderators and made a sarcastic comment about 25 moderators not being enough.

The coverage we have is pretty good with the 5 of us, and really we are all mainly just members with some extra buttons. A board like this really belongs to its members, that is why most major decisions are put up to a vote.

Annihilus is going to break from 3rd person for one post. He hopes nobody minds too much. ;)

Ahhh...a history of the Planet Thread. I like it. The cool thing about this thread is that it is really a tribute to Alice.....and even though a lot of the stuff I'm going to write doesn't have anything to do with her directly, it wouldn't be written at all if she hadn't made this site outta the frikkin' air. It's a trickle down she should be proud of. This place is fun, and it's pretty much all her fault.

The other guys have pretty much said everything that needs to be said. Out of the gang that has already spoken, I'm definately the newcomer - but like UT said: this board was always where I wanted to be but just didn't know it.

Before I got here I had never made one post on an Internet message board of any kind. Up until two weeks ago I had never been in an Internet chatroom of anykind (Undertaker had to go and get us one of those so I didn't have much of a choice - thanks bro ;) ). Since then I think I've posted a total of about 15 times on KFFL and maybe 100 on Patriots.com's site when the Planet went kerflooey for that month last year. It always seems weird to post elsewhere.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say this place is great for Pats fans to hang out. Not to be melodramatic, but in the 20+ years of beeing a Patriots fan I don't remember much of a happier time than the day/week that I found this place (other than the SB victiories maybe). Being an out of state Pats fan that has lived in MT, KY, SD & MN, I hadn't even met another Pats fan until I came here.

Imagine what it was like for me to actually have a conversation with someone that knew the name of the Patriots running back or wide receivers. It was friggin' shocking. And Awesome. From my first post (in the Karma thread) I was hooked. The members were funny as hell and some of them tended to be a bit more verbose than on other boards. Hell, some of them even wrote stories about time travel and sh!t. WTF?

Since then, this place has added tons of other unique members each with their own twisted slant on life and the Patriots. It never ends. You gotta love it.

So thanks Alice. You da bomb.

The rest of ya kick ass too. :thumb:

For a $150.00 you could have purchased the sarcasmnator, made by the same people who made the Whizzanator.

It straps on to the back of head and releases a small stream of water to notify you that sarcasm has been stated or read.

Not that anyone really asked (but hey, it's a slow day so far today), here's my story of how this lost soul was adopted by the Planet.

Maybe a year and a half ago, I was leading a fun but shallow existence as a troll on various opponents websites (My trolling name is "ChowdaHead"). Some thought it was an addiction, picking on poor football fans, whose only crime was to be rooting for the next victim of the Patriots that week. While still in denial, I'd tell people, "I could quit anytime I wanted to, but I just don't want to".

After leaving Indystar in ruins, after another Manning choke during the AFCCG a year ago, it was onto the Panther's Site (unfortunately that site is no longer in existence, but it's not my fault, really). Some of the people there were a little different. Sure they had some tools there, like sledgebrain (or whatever his name was). However, they had some interesting and funny people there as well. Also, they didn't get overly excited by trolls, and would try to engage in dialog with them (other than you $u(K). I actually got somewhat friendly with a few of them, I spent last year's superbowl on their forum posting with them about the game. They even liked my report card that I'd occasionally do afterwards. I thought to myself, it's too bad there isn't a Patriots forum like this. Well, PatsR suggested this place called PatriotsPlanet.

I started on the Planet, as so many others first do, as a lurker. ChowdaHead was already taken here, so after many hours of pondering, I came up with a name that was almost as clever. For the most part, the Planet seemed very nice. I really liked some of the avatars that people had (my favorite is probably still the rat in the helmet). But there was this one quirk that kept me in the background. I couldn't figure out what was going on with the MODs (eventually I realized it was just one MOD). The MOD, formerly known as NR, seemed to just lash out at people for reasons that I couldn't figure out, and everyone else seemed to be OK with it. It was very curious, and it kept me as a lurker (at least for a bit).

I don't know why, but one day this MOD decided to blast the guy that's the Patrick Pass fan, and I'm still not sure why as he seemed to be rather harmless and OK, (except maybe for rooting for a perennial bench warmer in Pass). I figured, if I'm going to get kicked out of here for disagreeing with a MOD, today's as good a day as any day. So with one of my first posts here, I scolded "him" (how to win friends & influence people). He actually took it easy on me that first time, just barely acknowledging my existence by replying, "Who are you".

With my initiation complete, I realized I had already jumped in, so it was time to see if I could swim with the sharks. After another such Bi-Polar incident, I PMed the other MODs to try to understand what the deal was. FA in her tactful way, told me that this person had an "issue" with newbies, and to just ignore it and keep posting, so I did.

Once the MOD Wars finally started in earnest (conveniently started while Hawg and Pookie were both out of town), it was first UT, and then the cavalry (Anni & Bideau) who stepped up and saved the universe (or at least the Planet). FA felt she was getting to old for this shiite, and decided she had a life. As for me, well I actually get excited over the NFL draft, so that tells you all you need to know about my life.

Dc thanks for filling in a little more of this puzzle. I wondered about the WAR, but figured Ihad no right to bring up the past.

I also was on that Panther Board but after a few Pats fans scame on and talked trash decided to stay off. I can't even remeber my user name I left so quickly.

Annihilus remembers you doing that and had much the same reaction you did. You'd be hard pressed to find a more harmless poster than PSC. Annihilus even tried to get Rageboy to play nice, but he wasn't having any of that.

You were right in there helping us try to right the ship dchester (which is a damn clever name that appears several times in the Davinci Code). Hearing rememberances of those days is something else, indeed. It wouldn't have been surprising if a lot of the members jumped ship at that point, but the Planet kept a going thanks to everyone's efforts - most notably UT's (Thanks bro.), but also everyone else that saw fit to stick around.

Jump ship? Heck, that's when things got fun. First time I ever 'flamed' anybody on this board. It was quite liberating to say the least.

I had even offered some less-than-savory services to FAlice in dealing with the problem, but of course she was above such tatics and declined.

That is much how I waded in also when I noticed his proclivity to blast certain people. My first defense was for Spinal Tap/Shurkis when NR went all rage on him. It didn't get me banned too, but it didn't save Spinal either.

What I still think is kind of funny is the thing that brought a lot of that to a head was a offseason poll about sex. Imagine that.

You know - this whole discussion would be freakin' awesome if we were all in a bar somewhere and didn't have to be anywhere tomorrow morning.

There'd be a whole mess of drunk bastards laughing their asses off by the end of the day. Except Hawg, who'd be in the corner hoarding his single malt gin or schlitz or whatever hoity toity $100 a sip drink he's drinking today.

Just goes to show you just how apt that old phrase 'someday we'll all sit back and laugh about this' really is.

God I hate when I drop my thoughts in late on a subject. I gotta say thanks to UT, Pookie and Hawg for keeping this board up when all seemed lost. I was around when this nice lovely little board suddenly turned into a war field 24/7. FallingAlice is THE pioneer here, made it all happen, etc. I appreciate that. I know I have said it over and over again but I cannot thank the people at this board enough. Not just the mods..But the posters.

How this board has faced tough times and the mods stayed tough and posters stayed alive is amazing. A total team effort. Thank you all the mods, and thank you for the posters who continue to make this the best Patriots board on the net.

Back in Dec of 03 I was living in the Yahoo NFL chatroom and someone provided a link to the Planet. (Don't remember the yahoo screen name of the person, but I'm sure you'd all like to beat the crap out of him ;) ). I registered, then, sorry to say, forgot about it. Like I said, most my time was spent on Yahoo. But then Pats.com actually entered the 21st century so I actually started posting there daily. Not a lot of humor, not a lot of personality, but it gave me a place to rant. Well until I was warned. :p Then one day last summer all these freaks start showing up at Pats.com. They just wouldn't leave. I had them sitting on my front porch but eventually they drank all my beer and then watered my plants. But they intrigued me, kind of like a hideous creature or a car accident. So when they all left for their home planet I followed. Course, then I discovered that I'd already been there once. But now that I knew some of the personalities I stuck around. No lurking for this gal. Nope. Just jumped right in. Unforunately for me the Planet was going through some problems. My first 40 posts or so were erased. Quite a bit of upheaval. But I did not let that deter me for I had finally found a home. A place where people actually knew sarcasm. A place where I could rant and argue without getting a ruler on my knuckles. A place where the folks were just as screwy as me. Ahhhh... Home.

It wasn't long after that, that Alice departed so I don't know her well. I came over to the planet at the same time as a fellow pats.com poster (Iowa). I remember FA posting she was from Iowa and also a Hawkeye fan. I remember her switching her avatar from Hockey Lisa to Margaret Thatcher and then she was gone. I remember thinking though that it was great to find another female who actually knew what the hell she was talking about when it came to football. There aren't that many of us. Then I discovered there were more like me around here.

So to Alice who first pioneered the planet, and to all those pilgrims who followed her and helped settle this great Planet of ours... :toast: Where would we all be without you?? I cringe to imagine. :shake:

My off the wall notion to share just struck me like a half ounce hammer.

I troll under Agnt42 on most other boards. But only really hang on this one...Its usually just to visit the next victim of the week.

Last year I posted on Chiefsplanet. It was two weeks or so before the Monday night game that I had foru tickets too.:D

I posted once on Chiefs Planet under the same user name as this one, Which I may change due to it just seeming so uninspired by originality.
I said something to this effect....."we are going to come there...drink your beer.....Eat you food and beat your team.

Very light smack right?

Reading FA's posts when I first started lurking encouraged me to pipe up, even if most of my posts don't relate to the game (I leave that for the X's and O's folks). I've always felt welcomed around these parts, and it's a great comfort now that I no longer live in the Northeast to read up on everything, Patriots-related or not. The level of intelligence, wit, sarcasm and humor on this board are rivaled by no other I've come across. I've met some amazing people on this board in person and am so grateful for all the hard work our founders and mods went through to get this place up and running, even during the bad times. You are appreciated more than you know.

Well, first of all...it isn't my vision. Nor should it be.

It's the improvisational by-product of a really fun and talented community. Culture can't be planned. And personally, if I haven't made clear that I'm bowled over by the improvements then I need to say that. I am truly bowled over by the improvements.

I have most certainly been lurking for some time, and as I mentioned to Hawg off-line, I'm incredibly jazzed about the kinds of experimentation and development that the site has undergone. Beyond the technical and graphical improvements of the site itself, I love the fact of IG's forays into sports writing and Hawg's guest spots.

There's a reason why I view myself as strictly emeritus. The site has excellent leadership in place. You don't need me. And, honestly, it's in many ways a lot more fun to just be a poster. As I'm sure you know by now, being a moderator puts different constraints on you.

You know, when the turmoil of last summer hit, it really was a blessing in disguise. Hawg and I have talked about this on several occasions. As the nominal chief at the time, it was sort of my duty to draw a line in the sand and take a firm position with NoRespect. If I hadn't, I would have been selling Hawg and Pookie (and all of the posters out). Quite frankly, at the time, I felt that if I didn't take a hard position, then the community and site would just die anyway.

I really expected that it would ultimately work out. It did ultimately work out, but I was surprised by the short-term consequences of taking NoRespect on.

Short term lurker- Rookie registree here.

A month or so ago I found this site as I am always interested in different perspectives of people with similar interests, like the Pats.

So here I come to your Patriots site, see a Forum called Three Ring Circus - Tailgate, jump on and what's the first thread I spy but "What's everyone having for lunch today?"

(I know it's the off season & all but I still expected all hard-core, all X's & O's gab.)

To my delight did I find the opposite. I found a lunatic bin, full of talented, laugh-out-loud funny, clever, topical, twisted, witty and yes, sometimes sensitive whack-jobs... and I knew I found My Happy Place.

Every time I have come here I have found something that has made me laugh out loud

Having just found this Classic thread today, I now have a better understanding of how the site began and the roles some of you have played to make it what it is.

Wish I had read this thread first before registering and plunging into the game as I jumped in without introduction as it seemed you were all on crack which made me wary.

Now that I know about the famous "NR" Mod, I guess I missed out on being properly "roto-rootered".

So thanks for the History Lesson and Annihilus thanks for showing your "1st person side".

RoadGrader will now be leaving you to be scoping out further Planet Classic Threads of Glory.

Thank you for that, RG.

You have crystallized exactly what the Planet is all about. There are plenty of other sites where all you get is hard core Xs and Os, but football is about fun. When you go to a tailgate with a bunch of buddies, yeah you'll talk Xs and Os, but you'll also talk about anything else there is a common interest in, and have a damn good time doing it.

We always love to see new users who "get it" right away and jump right in. :)

Well, some of us anyway. The other guys just can't wait until training camp.

Annihilus agrees with you about the laughing out loud - the month of May has been really good for that around here. Everyone's surely punch drunk from winning all those Superbowls and having nothing to grouse around about.

When I first posted (under a different username that was lost when Milloy was sent to Buffalo) I had never posted on any MB in my life. I'm a backwoods hick that loves the Pats, but knows very little about cyberspace. From my first post I was welcomed by most posters, but none more than F-Allice , Hawg, and Pookie. I just want to say thanks to all of them for making my transition so easy and keeping my posts alive though they probably shouldn't have been.

It was a very hard time when F-Allice left not only because her insight was missed, but I was generally worried about her. Thanks to Hawg, Pookie. Anni, UT and the rest of the 25 mods who have kept this sight running, and it is great to hear from Allice. LONG LIVE THE PLANET!!!!!!!!

I'll be hanging around from time to time here, sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong, and trying to get to know you all. Its a neat little community, and being new, a bit intimidating to try to fit in.

Being an old school kinda guy, I am gonna have to learn to get embedded images to post correctly, get the right avatar, etc. These new TV typewriters are a wonder, aren't they?:)

Thanks for the perspective. It gives hope to those of us who now wander due to the hell over there.:)

I love this place. This is a place for friends. I find myself wanting to go to draft parties and home games just to meet some of you. And I would think it was money well spent. I suppose "getting" this place means we all have the somewhat same personalities. I rarely find people that I really dig- you know when you leave that person's presence just warm with that feeling of meeting someone from your own wavelength? WOW, as a long time member for over 3 years now, I have never read this thread. Excellent stuff. To read about how this place was formed, developed, started from nothing, and all the people who made it possible is just mind blowing. Then, being the long time member that I am and seeing the new people who have joined since then is just fantastic. Now, with the recent upgrade and new features, it's better than ever. I feel as though I am in debt to those who worked hard to make this happen, but do know that it's more than appreciated by Patriots4ever.

Without getting into too much detail, I posted on Steeler boards since 2001 (namely amwreck's and still do) because there was no "Patriot message board" out there. When I 1st found the Planet, I had similar thoughts to those of Road Grader in "hard core - X's and O's break downs and whatnot. Not only do we have a good group of people who are fans of other teams, but we have a ton of great Patriots fans who share the same passion and concerns about our football team that I have. It was refreshing at the time when I was looking desperately for a Pats message board, and there's not 1 day that goes by where I don't appreciate this place, because I couldn't imagine life without it.

I know I don't really post a lot in OT stuff and I don't have as many posts as folks who have joined in well after I did, but I do care about this place and love checking in everyday just to see what's going on. Before I found the Planet, I used to have to scour the internet looking for Patriots articles and information. That is no longer a problem, and I have the Planet to thank. Similarly, I have met many people who post here in a social situation whether it be at a Draft Day Party, for business, or at an actual Patriots game and tailgating. If it weren't for the Planet, I never would have been introduced to our good friends over at UKPatriots either - a great group of Patriots fans that I have a great deal of respect for, and even got to meet them last season. They even invited me to a game, and if it weren't for them, I would never have been afforded the opportunity to meet 2 Patriot HOF legends in John Hannah and Andre Tippett.

I whole-heartedly thank everyone here for making this a positive experience and allowing me to be with them, when the situation warranted itself, where without this place, could not and would never have happened. Thank you 1000 times. :thumb:

The truth is the last time I heard from Alice was when she sent a brief request to delete her account and all of her posts. She provided no explanation whatsoever and I could only speculate on why she chose to ask that. Nobody really knows what was going on other than she had relocated to take care of her sister who was very ill.

I refused to have anything to do with honoring those particular wishes and hope instead that someday she decides to come back.
